I’ve noticed that when I’m in the street and a man starts talking to me, if i ignore him (because he is a stranger and I’m not in a context where I want to talk) he usually gets angry, insults me, or very irritated. I don’t understand how that reaction is productive. If I’m just walking my dog and you start striking up a conversation, and I ignore you, that’s your clue that I never wanted to talk in the first place. So why get agressive? That’s not going to make me more sympathetic to your cause. Where does this entitlement come from, and what outcome is wished by then angrily complaining about being ignored?
