Every study I've ever seen would say you are in the minority if you participate in hookup culture. Even if you only do it once. Too lazy to find the source now but only 1/3 college kids had any kind of casual sex (including a FWB/short-term partner, not just a "hookup") in their time at university.

People who participate in hookup culture continuously are probably in the minority, both men and women. It wouldn't surprise me if a majority of younger people have participated at some point or periodically.

The reason why: wost women can't get what they want out of hookup culture, and many men might want to be a part of it can't pull it off unless their entire life revolves around pursuing hookups.

I'm the same, OP. I've never had casual sex or ONS because it wouldn't work for me. I like having one trusted guy to essentially try out the entire kama sutra with. It certainly feels like we're in the minority, especially in this part of the internet, but irl we're probably a lot more common.

The minority of people engage in hookup culture. Most women choose to have maybe 3 or 4 hookups their entire lives with the rest being FWBs or LTRs for sex. And most men can’t get hookups or any kind of casual sex anyway. Most of my relationships started from hookups. In fact, the happiest I've ever been with a woman was a summer romance that started with first date sex.

I do not understand people who have this bureaucratic approach to dating and take ages to decide whether they have the tingles for someone. I'm into passion myself.

I tried hooking up a couple of times and found it 100% wasn't for me. I just prefer the emotional connection.

I don't participate it all. Quite frankly I don't mind if I'm in the majority or minority, it's non of my bussinesss if people enjoy casual sex or not.

Depends on where you are.

To my knowledge, in most of the globalized world, if you live in a medium to big city. Being part of the hookup culture means you are in the majority.

But if you are in a small city, a rural/semirural area or a religious area. Most people aren't part of the hookup culture (at least they won't admit it openly like we city folk do.

I am of the opinion that you are in the hookup culture, even if you don't get much (or any) result out of it, you just need to try. And even if you do it against your pesonality.

That would depend on your social circle/ culture/ country. Everyone I know does it when they're single. It's rare that I meet someone IRL who doesnt.

Hooking up for casual sex, from a male point of view, is really just for the good looking and top tier ones. For the remainder, it's scarce and the scarcity increases as the level of attractiveness gets lower.

For the majority of men, hooking up is something that they'd like to experience, but in reality it really is just a case of getting lucky.

I never intend to participate in hookup culture. It always surprises me and eventually puts me off when a woman wants to have sex on the first date, but I do it anyway and then fade out of the conversation. It gives an idea what the culture is like, but I don’t see myself having any common ground with a woman that sees sex as something trivial and meaningless.

First of all "hookup culture" isn't even a thing. Humans have been 'hooking up" since we were living in caves.

You're basically asking if having ever had sex outside the confines of a serious relationship puts you in the minority or the majority.

The vast majority of adults have had sex outside a relationship. Ergo, hooking up.

Virginal prude Puritans are certainly the minority.
