I think the cheating is equally bad for both. Assuming they both know the only difference is that a wife can choose to get an abortion and end the pregnancy. The husband can not have a say if his mistress gets and abortion and child support isn't voluntary.

I knew a couple in my family that were both cheating on one another. The wife got pregnant for the man she was cheating with and her husband ultimately chose to raise the child as his own. They already had 4 kids together and walking away from his marriage would mean significantly less time with his kids.

Both start out equally fucked. However, if the woman attempts to pass the illegitimate child off as her husband's I'd argue that's worse.

That's not always possible, but I've seen an episode or two of Maury with women giving hilarious justifications as to why their baby is black even though both supposed parents are white.

This is a "politically correct" forum, so they will tell you that both are "equally" bad..Any form of sexual activity outside of the marital bed (premarital or extramarital) is extremely harmful to society. Now, you asked "which one is worse," and I'd say that a married woman getting pregnant by another man is worse because often the husbands are never informed that the child isn't theirs! Now, if a married man impregnates another woman, this is not going to cause his wife to be fooled into providing for a child that isn't hers.

That would be my response if we only considered how sex outside of the marital bed affects the spouse... however if we consider the child in the womb then I would say that a married man impregnating another woman is worse than a married woman being impregnated by another man.. this is because again, husbands whose wives cheat on them are often unaware of that and as a result when these husbands learn that their wives are pregnant they react with joy because they obviously assume that the child is theirs so the child is taken care of and provided for by the husband and his wife.. Now, if a married man impregnates a single woman it is likely that he will encourage her to abort the child.

Now, if we consider how sex outside of the marital bed affects society, I would say that a man impregnating a single woman is worse because if the child isn't aborted, the baby is likely to be raised by a single mother, and statistics show that the majority of people in jail were raised by single mothers... however, when a married woman is impregnated by another man, it is unlikely that this will cause her to become a single mother, because husbands are rarely informed that the child isn't theirs.

I'd say it's similarly bad for both cheaters.

But on the side of the cheated, it is worse for the husband of the unfaithful woman if she does not confess to him that the child is not his. Because there is a risk not only of financial damage, but much greater emotional damage (if he discovers it, for example, in the case of a three-year-old child whom he considered his own) and, theoretically, that he may be left without his own biological child because of this.

BUT

A married woman getting pregnant by another man and then letting her husband believe it is his child and has him raise it is much, much, much worse. Cheating is the least bad thing done there. Flat out, making someone believe a child is biologically theirs when it isn’t, and allowing them to build their life around being a parent to that child is truly evil.

But since some people seem to want to claim for the woman doing it being worse. I'll make a claim for the man side.

Men rarely cheat due to actual unhappiness within their marriage or with their partners. They just want physical novelty/fail to maintain control of themselves. This means the man has sacrificed everyone else and everything and been a complete ass douche because he wanted a little thrill.

This is demonstrably worse than the woman cheating. This is because we know women typically cheat for emotional reasons, which is to say, they are not happy in their current relationship. They aren't seeking a thrill, they're seeking a whole new life and different partner. While this disloyalty is equally monstrous, it is far easier to forgive. Her mistake was essentially not getting a divorce first. He doesn't even want out.

It depends on the views of abortion. If both are willing to abort then it’s equally bad.

If they’re unwilling to abort - the married woman is worse.

The reason being is that you can more realistically recover a marriage from someone who has cheated. The married man can abandon the pregnant woman and live a more regular life. The woman is obviously becoming a single mother but that’s her choice. Lives ruined - mostly one but that’s her choice.

The married woman getting pregnant is ruining another persons life because there’s almost no chance any guy would be okay with his wife getting pregnant and having a kid with someone else. So, lives ruined probably two because married woman would get divorced and married man would get divorced. The psychological damage would also probably be quite heavy.

I think married woman could recover from husband impregnating someone else. I don’t think most men could recover from their spouse getting impregnated. That’s just due to gender norms but it depends on the actions besides impregnating.

That said - I do have friends who have lived this. Friend was in a 5+ year ltr with a guy - was close to marrying. He avoided the kids question a lot. Cheats on her with another woman. Other woman gets pregnant. She actually has the kid. He leaves his 5+ year ltr to become a father and marry the other woman.

Psychological damage from that was super immense. It’s one thing to knock up and cheat. It’s another to then leave and marry the person - and have actively avoided having kids with the other person, lol. Terrible AF.

Potential inheritance can go to a child that's not yours. Now, imagine you know, you're getting fucked when you do the divorce, since, she's actually rewarded for you leaving. They’re both pretty much the same for the most part, but I do believe that because both generally cheat for different reasons (ie. men would cheat physically first, while women cheat emotionally first - i also think generally women cheating is more preventable since their cheating is more reactive), her getting pregnant would prob hurt more, but fundamentally they’re both the same

I think it’s slightly worse for a married man to impregnate someone else, because he has no control of the outcome. At least if a married woman gets pregnant by a different man than her husband, she can quietly get an abortion.

Even if the married woman paternity frauds her husband, at least the kid doesn’t grow up either fatherless or having to split his dad’s time between two families
