In bad times the true nature of man and how he behaves in bad times is shown, in good times it shows the true nature of man and how he behaves in good times.

People want to "feel good" as often and as long as possible ...depending on what we have available, we will try to get what feels "good" in every situation in life ... when you are rich, ofc it’s different from when you’re poor

"Nature" is a dirty word; I like "invariant" much more. When environment changes from bad to good, invariants stay constant. My favorite example that I brought up probably hundreds of times already - is while rise in standard of living in the US between mid 19th and late 20th century resulted in enormous divorce epidemic, what stayed constant is that women were the majority of plaintiffs throughout the entirety of this period.

It's interesting, and hard to say for certain.

If needs are met, I think the choosiness that develops stems from having the option to choose things that are generally better.

The question is, is that because of who someone's true self is, or because humans usually prefer nice things over shitty things? Having money certainly makes it easier to be a decent, happy person; but I'm sure that many friendly rich folks could become bitter under more unfortunate circumstances.

I'm really not sure. I'd say that having your needs met can definitely keep aspects of a person hidden, simply because they aren't needed or helpful. Maybe the same is true for someone who's struggling, too.

Your evil or good traits would be amplified by your situation.

One's true nature shows when they do not care it is shown, and will admit it if they know it is their nature. what kind of question is that? Some people show it when they have everything they need. Some when they have nothing to lose, some because of cultural behavio, Etc. The only thread into all these things is that they do not care if is shown, and maybe that they know it is their true nature.

I think you misunderstand. In Brazil (and many other latin cultures) we are clear about how to achieve things because we really care about one another, we know it may not be the most moral way, and may be against our ideologies, but it certainly bring results, so we teach it like that. Our women may be led to illusions such as ideologies and religions, but they will teach the most realistic way possible in order to help those they care about. It is part of the 'jeitinho brasileiro'. You can say we are sincere/realistic when it matters to achieve a goal. It is a scientific term, if you are interested.

All in all,RP is not demonstrated by women, but a good part of it is taught by them. i.e. PART OF THE RP KNOWLEDGE IS PART OF OUR CULTURE.

It is just a cultural thing we created as a group in order to fix one of our many problems, divorces and women can bring dozens to misery after all. We cannot afford letting a man fall for such stupid things that easily, so that is how we came up with it.

However, we are full of people who hide their true nature, even being needful. We just don't do in this instance because our culture say not to do it. We would do otherwise if our culture was like that you know?

They reflect different things.In bad times you see how far a person is willing to go in order to get by.In good times you see what it is that person actually likes to do.

Imo for our purposes it's better to look at the good times case.Which is why I think the whole AF/BB strategy women employ is so hypocritical.At the height of their power ,when they were young and hot,they chose the asshole it's only when they start losing said power that they "fall in love" with the good stable guy.

My true nature has surprised me in both prosperity & struggle

Prosperity bc I had three years of getting everything I wanted & handled it very badly

Struggle bc I was scarily calm & protected by shock in situations that still don't seem real

True nature is what we evolved for, which is a bit above "struggle". We evolved in an environment where death and danger were commonplace, but on each particular day there was little to do and little to gain, and humans spend a lot of time conserving energy: sleeping, being lazy, having sex and fun.

If you are a man, your brain is designed to be lazy and seeking fun most of the day on most days, but occasionally facing hardship and danger while on a hunt, and pushing yourself to your physical and psychological limit. By nature, we evolved to be "adventurers": preferring long periods of inactivity parsed with 3-5 days of extreme activity. Men who acted otherwise usually failed to breed, and their genes got extinct.

If you are a woman, you evolved to constant, but low energy labour like gathering of food and resources, raising children communally and maintaining the camp/burrow. You evolved to avoid danger, and avoid extreme hardship regardless of the possible reward. Women who acted otherwise usually failed to raise a child alive to adulthood, and their genes went extinct.

This reflects in how humans react to modern economy, lifestyle and relationship norms.

I think our "true nature" is often shaped by culture and upbringing, more than we think. Human behavior is wildly variable specifically because we are social creatures who adapt to the environment we're in.

That being said, I think it lies somewhere closer to the middle than on either end of the spectrum. People raised with a happy childhood and no fear of scarcity are less likely to do "whatever" to support themselves if they have to, and people raised in poverty (like myself) will never quite be able to let go of their fear.

The animal side is there to ensure survival, and our higher order selves are there to have the ideas, innovations and dreams that will ensure survival for the generations to come. In times of crisis, the future necessarily takes a backseat to the present, but that doesn't mean either way of living is invalid.

I love this question. But I don't think we necessarily have a "true nature," really. I think who we are is highly malleable.

I think people are largely the same and our differences are overrated. I just think "who we are" is highly subjective to environment/conditioning/mood, and that's why we see so much variability among people. Not because our essential selves are all that different. All things being equal, I think most people would act identically to one another.

People act very differently when desperate than when contented. Like the entire personality shifts. I think if you're looking for ingrained character, you'd look at the decisions they made when desperate. It's really easy to have good character when things are going well.

For relationships, I always revealed my true intentions early.

I never wanted a hookup or meaningless relationship.

I wanted a life partner.

If I didn't think I could spend my life with that person, I wouldn't go into a relationship with them. Same with I wouldn't marry that person if I didn't think I am going to spend the rest of my life with them.
