It is sexist, yes. But as always it's our own fault as men for being so fucking thirsty. We agreed to this deal. We want bars full of drunken girls.

no conscription for women
affirmative action
gender based hiring quotas that have nothing to do with ability
huge support and funding for diseases that almost exclusively affect women, none for men
women only education grants
paid maternity leave
men expected to pay for dates
women only gyms = yay, but men only gyms = prosecuted
women only business lunches = fine, male only business lunches = sexist
women only small business grants = great, men only small business grants = see you in court

The Western world is one of the most unequal places on earth, but because all the benefits flow to women, everyone looks the other way.

Its usually Ladies free before 10-12 and possibly a free drink or half price up to that point. I rarely go out anymore though (never really did other than to occasionally hang out with my group). Even then, I only ever got to the club/bar "on time" once with some coworkers. We got there at around 9ish before bars barely filled up and went home right when the party was starting so its kind of meh imo.

It's sexist because the women can grab, grope and treat the male entertainer like a piece of meat but if men did this at a strip club and touched a woman they'd be broken into bits by large bouncers and tossed out the door.

But I'm all for strippers for BOTH genders. Not for ME, but for regular people.

I'd rather sit alone with top shelf Bourbon and NOT pay 5X the price for said drink in a sketchy place full of lonely men watching some drug-riddled single mother take her clothes off.

Plus, tattooed coked-up "tough girl" sluts with daddy issues do nothing for me.

It benefits the club owner first, because it packs in his establishment and raises the value of his building, if even only for one night.

It benefits the women afterwards because they now get to go have a mostly free time and have a room full of thirsty guys to get drinks from. I’ve literally seen many girls say they’ve gone out with $20 in my purses and didn’t spend a dime and had the best time or only spent about $10. I get all women aren’t going to achieve that but the point remains.

It only seemingly benefits guys, but most of them are going home to themselves anyways.

I don't. The only way a "Men's Night" would be a success is at a gay bar. And I'm guessing it's mostly dudes there already. It's marketing to an observed social norm. Women like to go out and hang with other women, men try to avoid sausage fests.

It's obviously sexist but I can imagine most people don't care. It benefits both the bar owners and the patrons for there to be an equally gendered environment. And besides, men are often paying women for drinks and ubers and whatever at these places anyway, it's all just part of the social culture.

I have a bigger issue with things like female only time at gyms and pools (with no equivalent male only time). Especially at publicly funded universities. Access to equipment at gyms is a premium and the men who have to pay the same monthly fee are straight up being discriminated against.

I'd never thought that much about it - I've never seen one here and honestly thought it was a made up movie trope, but I'm assuming it's maybe just more of an American thing. Yeah it is sexist, regardless of whether it ultimately benefits a man financially (the owner) or benefits men sexually, it's still not great if it's negatively impacting the male club goers financially.

I'm fairly certain it isn't legal where I live to practice any form of price discrimination based on gender or anything at all.

From what I understand, in say the US, health insurance or car ensurance can also charge different premiums based on gender, age, or pre-existing conditions or whatever they want, that isn't legal throughout the EU; it's only legal to charge higher premium for prior cashins by the same client.

Basically, the US is strangely liberal with how much price discrimination it allows.

Men are literally funding the evening, from cover fee too booze. providing women aren't buying their own drinks. If you flip the roles you'll find that most women won't go , and if nobody goes/ pays to get in how many clubs will be able to stay open?

The night club/bar scene is rife with sexism. As a woman, the sexism that bothers me most is how female bartenders are often forced (tho some do it willingly) to be half naked while the male bartenders are fully clothed. The women are unfairly objectified, we have to compete with girls practically prancing around in underwear behind the bar, and we get no eye candy. It’s enough to keep me away from clubs.

I don't think it is in its nature. I think it's covered under the natural proclivity of males to offer stuff to females as to prove their utility as providers. In a modern society I can see why some consider it sexist. I'm not sold on the argument that it demonstrates thinking that women cannot provide for themselves or that it's unfair to the guys who want to freeload. In its ugly form, which is the case most of the time, it a deliberate strategy to have lots of drunk and easy pussy in the bar, which for the most of the week is a sad sausage-fest. In its natural and nice form it is a ritual and a natural distinction in how men and women engage each other when they like each other. I also hate decrying anything as 'something-ist' because it happens far too carelessly and it's dangerous.

IMO private Establishments have a right to have whatever policies they choose. If they want women to be able to enter for “free” or to have their drinks “free” it’s their deal. In regards to it being “sexist” I’m sure you can argue that but who cares.

Now who does this benefit? I haven’t really seen any evidence to suggest dudes get laid at any higher rates during “ladies” night compared to other nights. I’ve been fairly successful at clubs regardless. You have to know how to vibe and talk to women no matter what.

It's only 'sexist' depending on one's views on gender and gender roles. If you are a zealot espousing the idea that all gender roles and expectations can, will and should eventually die, then yeah. It's sexist.

If you are a reasonable human being who understands a thing called science and is in touch with reality, then you don't think there is anything wrong with Ladies Nights.
