I agree. The point is that sex is not the same as a meaningful relationship. Living in a (European) country where prostitution is legal, I actually don't know anybody who ever paid for sex. Maybe it's my circle of people but illegal drugs are not unheard of among high performers and f'ed up people, but paying for sex is not.

A lot of men probably see this need to pay actual money immediately to have sex as a giant hurdle. If you do that, you admit that you lost the game and it's bad for your self esteem. Once you've stooped to that level, you'll do it again probably.

I'd rather be alone than pay for it so directly. But even it you're a horny bastard, maxing your credit card does not buy you a meaningful relationship that comes with sexual satisfaction. Neither does simping. You best remember that.

Prostitution should still be legal. There is no good reason to make it illegal. Protect prostitutes and customers by establishing a safe and legal environment. Even if it's not for you, you should be for it

Visiting escorts is expensive. You're unlikely to get anything below £100/hour in the UK (roughly $130/hour in US money). Most men do not have that sort of disposable income lying around. I've spoken to escorts before and the majority of their customers are old rich men or rich businessmen. The rates that they charge price most men out the market.

There are fat ugly women charging £200/hour for sex and getting plenty of action. Not even very good looking men can charge that price and get action. Let that sink in.

I disagree. I think it would open as many men up to soliciting prostitutes (even while in a relationship) as it would open women up to the idea of becoming prostitutes. That alone would have a significant effect on the dating market.

More men would be engaging in prostitution which would likely leave a lot of women out of the loop as well, and I don't think they would like having to compete for the now smaller pool of men who aren't indulging in NSA sex and prostitutes.

You can override the legal restrictions of purchasing sex in the United States but the prostitutes are way more expensive in the U.S. than basically anywhere else. Legal prostitution won’t affect dating.

However, it affects marriage.

Why get married if you don’t want/can’t have kids? A prostitute is cheaper. And less noise.

You don’t pay for a whore to marry her. You pay for her to go away.

Also married women can’t stand the fact that easy access to younger and more desirable women would devalue them. Besides locking men into a contract, they have to make sex illegal so access is barred to their husbands.

Sex work will remain illegal as long as the bulk of women over a certain age are married. As much as they may tell you to your face they support equality, they really don’t.

I don't think legalizing prostitution would change the dating Market that much all agree there, what would change it however to an extent would be removing the social stigma of it, not that I necessarily care about the social stigma myself but you look at the push to remove the social stigma around sex work and we'll see what that looks like in a few Generations, if you do the same with prostitution, I think it kind of takes the veneration of sex away so it's possible , I think what's really going to change as far as advancements and removal of social stigma will be how much better Tech gets

If they legalized it and removed the stigma around it, I think that it would change the dating world, in the sense that guys that are frustrated on dating apps and are just trying to get laid would utilize it. You would see a decrease in male sexlesness, and you would see women stop withholding sex from guys that they're in a relationship with, maybe in fear that he will look elsewhere for sex.

But it wouldn't really change anything for that guy who genuinely wants a relationship, but can't find a girl who's interested in him and meets his standards.

One could argue that legalized prostitution will increase the quality of dating, because it can remove the sex motivated out of the dating pool. And thus the dating pool would have a higher percentage of people looking for long term relationships as they won’t be sharing the same channels for discourse as the sex driven.

Ultimately, the goal shouldn’t be to pair people for the sake of paring people — it should be bringing the most happiness with least pain. And if we’re being honest—don’t most of those countries you listed as having legalized prostitution, rate higher for happiness than America?

If seeing prostitute get a better connotation, people will go into it more, leaving behind a little more the dating market, which will, get more prostitute to come and price will drop. From there dating world will drastically change, because there won't be as much interest in dating for the sake of sex enjoyment. The point of legalization of prostitution isn't to change social dynamics or about power, it's about liberalization and sexual liberation. It has a net benefit on society, granted that society is liberal(as is the vast majority of the free world). IMO the detractors to legalization have a choice to make, either we go back to a society with sexual freedom being socially and legally restrained or we have sexual freedom, all of it, not just a portion of it. We can't half ass liberalism, we either have all of it and for everyone, or non of it.

No one with any sense thinks that it will. But legalizing it, in many ways normalizes it. That way guys who for whatever reason have trouble participating in "normal" dating, can at the very least experience some form of sexual intimacy in a safe, clean environment without worrying about getting in legal trouble and to some extent can avoid the social stigma of being a "John".

Also, those troubled men can experience sex and learn a bit about what it's like in a way that watching porn and/or masturbating is just unable to teach. So if/when they get to experience it in a non transactional setting, they'll hopefully be able to satisfy their partner. There really is no downside to legalizing prostitution.

I will give you my perspective as a german who has gone to quite a few prostitutes.

I went to them, because I really craved sex and real life contact with a pretty woman. So I would go about once a week while I was single. After doing this for quite a while, my thirst for sex decreased, while my need for true intimacy increased. This actually made it easier for me to date normal women, as I was less interested in just bedding them and more interested in having a real relationship.

So in my case, it meant one less man trying to get a hookup and one more looking for a relationship.

But I have to agree with the barely part. Many men will not do this because of the stigma. Many men will still seek hookups for validation.

tldr: Hookers are great for getting your sexual needs met.
