Standard TRP line is simply "don't get married"; back up line is "if you do, get a prenup."

I am not a lawyer; I was a divorce lawyer, but these days anything I say is mere observation and not legal advice.

The prenup can be a tough sell because of all the "if you really loved me" bullshit.

The way to "sell" a prenup is to make it a life plan. In a way it is just a legal extension of your marriage vows (which are not legally binding). Traditionally it would be breadwinner man and SAHM. But you can have up-and-coming MD or all sorts of possibilities. The point in that prenups are more likely to be enforced if the follow "the plan". Break the plan and go off into left field and the agreement is broken and thrown out of court.

Perhaps still-practicing lawyers have a different perspective.
