They're not "evil" but men and women in general are acting in self interest when dating. Mind games, seeing multiple people etc etc

Something ive noticed that a lot of daters are aware of is power dynamics. People quickly realise who got more power in a coupling and it becomes a "thing"

All my best experiences have been where it all happened naturally, no mind games or any of that. We just admitted we liked each other and it went on from there. This sort of thing is becoming rarer these days (though still prevalent)

That's because there are social conventions in real life that prevent it. On the internet, people can be themselves more, so you see true female nature on the internet way more. It's only social shaming that forces women to not chase Chads and go for nicer guys.

Well it's honestly not just this sub. If you go anywhere women dominated on reddit it's legit 80% them complaining about men or something man related. Men can't really talk TOO much about women on this site but it's absolutely brutal out there depending on the area you live in. Especially with introverts having more voices on social media, online dating becoming more common, and the bar for "harassment" kinda becoming grey because people don't realize flirting is just a means to make the other person see you in a sexual light to build attraction. When ugly people do it it's going to be unsuccessful more often than not, and what would be a "failed flirt" is now just called sexual harassment.

Are the relevant people are evil though. Overall statistical trends and probability doesn't matter for those individual data points on the wrong side of those... and the majority of people here are the individual data points that are not covered by the majority.

Based on my experiences, I concluded people are terrible in general. The whole gender war is just one aspect of how we're a terrible species.

Population phenomena cannot be discussed without generalizing. In any case, all that is really discussed here is the effect that the descent of the West into an atomized, low trust, low social capital foyer has on the dating market. Unsurprisingly, this is the same effect it has on every other facet of society; more and more people engaging in exploitative and rent seeking behaviours, more scams, more angles overall. Of course it's not everyone, but it doesn't actually take that many liars to destroy the trust within a group, it doesn't take anywhere near 50%. Relatively few exploiters and free riders are needed within a system before it becomes impossible to be effectively unselfish.

I don’t think many people are “evil” - although my experience dating online leads me to believe there are a lot of bad faith actors - but there is so little known about the other party from both ends. I don’t have very much understanding of females and who they are and they have very little understanding of me and who I am. I’d love to learn but females don’t appear to share that feeling, unfortunately.

Yes, this includes myself, but I'm trying to limit the sour grapes, and have enough self-awareness to realize that it's more likely some problem with myself (which doesnt define my worth as a person) and not the entire rest of the world around me.

Though, to be fair, there is definitely a cultural shift caused by many factors that seems to be making dating a shitty ordeal for an increasing number of people, and there's plenty of data to back that up (i.e. sexlessness statistics).

In short: most of us are fuckups in one way or another and trying to make sense of an increassingly fucked up world. Sometimes it's a bit too toxic and exaggerated because people are emotional creatures.
