This came up in discussion yesterday, and it’s actually a pretty interesting subject (to me)

Why is that men - who are generally attracted to a wider group of women as compared to who women are attracted to - also account for the most fetishes? Given that fetishes are the most narrow window of attraction on earth, this is surprising

Note that I’m using the term “fetish” intentionally, it’s not interchangeable with “kink.” A person with a true fetish needs the object of that fetish to be present in order to get sexually aroused. So, a person with a foot fetish may need to see, touch, whatever feet in order to get hard

I’d link to studies/articles, but Reddit mobile is being a bitch today and wiping out everything I write the second I toggle over to Safari to copy a link. So, google to your hearts content

One other interesting thing to note: at least some fetishes are speculated to be from some mis-wiring in the brain (IIRC, foot and limb fetishes in particular - apparently the area that controls our limbs is adjacent to the area that controls our sexual desires - but it’s never been proven)
