Men are not and should not be responsible for a woman's safety

There's a lot of talk about how men need to take careful precautions not to make women feel unsafe or threatened. Such as this article: "Women don't feel safe in public spaces — and it's up to men to do something about it". Or "Men, We Need To Make Women Feel Safe" These articles and many others suggest men should take very careful precautions around women, such as not jogging or running near her, not walking behind them at night, or in a public place, keeping an eye on them to see if people are treating them politely or respectfully. Some even go as far to suggest men should stop showing any aggression

My view here is, women should not depend on or need men in any say for their safety. Nor should men be responsible for a woman's safety whom isn't in his family. The idea women need random men whom do not know them to make them feel safe is quite sexist in and of itself and goes against the idea of being a "strong independent woman". It's not a man's issue or problem if a woman feels unsafe around him.

Now, if someone is being violently attacked or robbed, a man should call 911 or do something to help, but nothing about how a woman feels in public, should be his responsibility. Men and women should be treated equally in regards to safety.
