Sarcasm (from Wikipedia)

Sarcasm is the caustic use of words, often in a humorous way, to mock someone or something. Sarcasm may employ ambivalence, although it is not necessarily ironic. Most noticeable in spoken word, sarcasm is mainly distinguished by the inflection with which it is spoken or, with an undercurrent of irony, by the extreme disproportion of the comment to the situation, and is largely context-dependent.

Approaching a woman (whether cold approach or warm approach), will usually require some sort of flirting/banter/humour to be included. Sarcasm is one of the laziest and most accessible forms of humour. Men who struggle who understand this can end up interpreting something literally when it was meant figuratively or exaggerated, which then can unwittingly turn a woman off when she was initially interested.

Not understanding that a comment is sarcastic can make a man seem “off” to a woman, and cause her reaction to no longer want to engage with a perceived “weirdo”.

Is it fair? No. But life is unfair, it is what it is.
