Something I've thought about before is making it so that everyone can, by conscious choice, check the "compatibility aura" of anyone nearby. The closer it is to your favorite color, the better of an overall match they are for you in aspects physical/personal/reproductive. There wouldn't be one specific soul mate, but you could find a handful of people who are damn close to a soul mate, and gauge relative compatibility before even saying hello, which would cut out alot of time in dating, and encourage people to choose overall compatibility over superficial things. (Of course, if you're an idiot, you can still choose the wrong person, but now no one has any excuses for choosing a bad partner. It's 100% your fault.)

It's great for people both poly and mono. After you've found your partner(s), you can just choose not to see the auras anymore, but they're still useful if you choose to, as it makes super easy to avoid rapists/serial killers/etc., and know who you can trust your children around, as a high compatibility means they have similar values to you.

As an added bonus - before puberty, the auras show children which adults are safe or dangerous to them. We could quickly weed out or sequester the sickos from society that way.
