It’s generally considered polite for the person who does the asking to be at least willing to pay. If you’re asking women out and following it up with “but you have to pay”, I don’t imagine you’re gonna have a lot of luck.

Yeah, I’ve had a few chicks pay for me. I don’t really like classical dating, though, so it’s more in a friendly context than a romantic one. Whenever I’m flush, I tend to be pretty generous with buying as well. I buy my guy friends drinks too sometimes

This is one of those times where physical attractiveness is key. If you're a "hot" dude, you can always find a girl or 2 that'll foot the bill.

Young "hot" girls will almost never do this unless A) She was a late bloomer into her attractiveness or B) She comes from a few specific cultural backgrounds

I still often have a real problem telling the difference between friendly normal behavior and girl wants the D.

So when a girl asks if I want to grab some food and then picks up the bill...it just seemed like a nice thing to do....Or getting asked to go kayaking or to the beach alone, it just seems like a fun, friendly outing.

I love taking my boyfriend out for dates. I think it has to do with me loving the feeling of caring for his emotional needs? I get the same feeling when i’m the big spoon despite being smaller, I let him fall asleep with his head in my chest.

I really wish it was seen as more culturally acceptable to approach men first and to take them out on dates and give them compliments. I’ve never seen anyone’s face light up more than a guy receiving a genuine compliment.

Yes, this has happened to me a few times. They were either friends or acquaintances. She would suggest the place for the date and pay her own way but not treat me. I was never attracted to any of them, though, and I don’t have casual sex with women who I’m not attracted to. I’m sure these women were hoping for the date to eventually lead to a relationship.

yeah a few times, but i usually didn't realize it was a date until later.

for example, i met a chick through mutual friends. objectively most guys would say she was very hot, but she wasn't my "type" and had some big redflags so i never really went after her. also she had a boyfriend. but she was cool and we got along pretty well and became friends.

eventually she broke up with her boyfriend. then she started inviting me to stuff, and i would assume it was a group event with some other friends but then when i got there it was just the two of us lol. like one day she rented a boat and we sailed it all afternoon. a couple of times she invited me out to some restaurant and picked up the tab. and the whole time i was just like "oh cool, thanks buddy" lol

another chick i knew who worked near me kept inviting me to meet up with her for drinks and dinner at nearby bars and restaurants after work. I didn't realize they were dates until i went to one of the same places on my own and the bartender asked where my girlfriend was.

No. Every first date I've had came about because I initiated.

I've had women hit on me, even aggressively so. Two women invited me to sex parties when I was younger. The first was an older woman who sold sex toys for a living but I was too young to understand her advances (19/20). The second was from a landwhale who had smothered a skinny guy with her equally obese sister in a flabby sandwich on the dancefloor. I turned her down despite the clever theme: cum as your favourite comic strip character.

Moral of the story: getting casual sex from a woman is easier than getting even one to ask you out on a date.

One of my favorite girlfriends took me on a first date to some event that had required an invite list. She and her BFF were both scheming NYC partygirls who were always looking for an in at stuff, even when it turned out to be incredibly lame like this event. It was some boring yuppie media people thing, and she appalled me by taking half finished drinks off tables and drinking them instead of going to the bar. We got free drunk and then just went to brooklyn instead.

Yes, but typically only happened in highly competitive environments, where women have to be sexually aggressive. I never really did the dating thing, being an archaic mating custom meant to culminate in an archaic institution (marriage), but I'd go if asked.
