Let's build a scenario where financial stability isn't a problem. Where that doesn't play any role in choosing a partner.

"Would you rather be Chris Hemsworth's third wife or Paul Giamatti's only wife?"

It was a joke when I first heard it but now I wonder about the answer.

Would you rather have

  • a monogamous, faithful (and possibly loving and caring) relationship with a sexually unsatisfactory man

or

  • a polygamous relationship, sharing a male partner with one or more women, with a sexually satisfactory man

I didn't imply love and care in the second scenario because I don't think you can love someone while you have sex with others. I don't think that's how love works.

I'm not narrowing this down to a single type of scenario: longer term, shorter term, kids, no kids... just give an answer to the general idea.

I'm not asking this to men because polyandry usually makes them really disgusted. Men almost always choose monogamy because the disgust of sharing a woman with others overcomes everything else. Previous research shared in PPD showed women are usually (not always) much more tolerant of the idea of sharing a partner with others.
