I think sense of humor is really just an signifier of someones overall values and personality.

Everyone has a sense of humor of a sort, whether it just be laughing when someone falls over or whatever. But the kind of things you laugh at says a lot about you and finding someone who "gets" you is important.

I went on a date last week with a girl where every time I said something that was intended as a joke, she would take it 100% literally. It was boring as fuck and I have no desire to repeat it.

A sense of humor is one of my highest priorities for LTR/FWB and even ONS. It's also a standard I have for friendship now that I think of it. Why am I going to spend any more time than is required with someone I can't even share a laugh with? That sounds like a nightmare.

it is of the utmost importance. we don't have to have the exact same sense of humor, but there needs to be a large overlap in our humor venn-diagram. we must be able to bounce witticisms, snort at dad jokes, and flow in publicly displayed undercurrents of irony together. it's also essential that they think i'm funny, that i make them laugh, much more than that they make me laugh.

They don't have to be funny, but they should be able to laugh :)

Me and my partner both have some ability to be funny, but mostly we have the ability to find humor in things.

Less if they have a sense of humor and more if I think they are funny. If your jokes consist purely of 15 year old boy I'mgoingtohellforthis 4chan humor I will probably think you are annoying. If you are offended by anything and everything you will bore the fuck out of me.

The bond shared by humor can also develop though. When I first met my boyfriend I thought he was very awkward and I spent a lot of time telling jokes and riffing and he'd laugh but never contributed much. Once we got closer we'd riff on each other and share inside jokes and now he's the only person who can really make me crack up.

I suppose it's "important" to some people; "less important" to others.

But this isn't really a Red Pill question. Better questions for this sub's purposes would be:

--does a sense of humor provide relationship comfort (probably)

--is a sense of humor sexually arousing (no)

--is a sense of humor "attractive" (possibly, if "attraction" is "arousal + comfort", with sense of humor being included in "comfort")

i don't know who this was a question for (if not for all) but a sense of humor is pretty important. perhaps not the most important in comparison to other personality traits, but important nonetheless.
