This is a follow-up on what was posted on Monday, the moderation team had a discussion about the subreddit moving forward and here are some of the changes and clarifications. There was also some other suggestions made that will shared here.

Incel, Feminism and more Off-topic Posts

Incel posts were a problem due to the nature of them becoming personal and people often bringing up points about suicide, they can also be irritating. The blanket ban on incel-related content is going to be lifted, but these posts will be moderated more stringent and will be removed at the moderator's discretion. Recently reddit has been cracking down hard on subreddits and this has to be taken into consideration when these topics are posts.

Some feminism posts are relevant to PurplePillDebate, and they will be allowed as long as they are on topic to the discussion of The Red Pill and The Blue Pill, and also the discussion of sex and gender related issues. More off-topic posts regarding feminism will be removed.

If these topics begin to dominate the subreddit, they will be contained more accordingly or removed at the discretion of a moderator.

Racially Charged Content

Racially charged content had to be forbidden because it quickly escalates into incivility and there was a lot of trolls using it as a vehicle to bait people, due to this, racially charged posts will remain prohibited. There is no longer going to be a blanket ban on all comments containing race, any comments that appear to edge on race-baiting or racism will be removed. Again, reddit is cracking down on this sort of content really hard so it has to be dealt with in that way.

Comments similar to this are okay:

"I really like The Dwarves from the Khazad-dûm, they have the sexiest beards."

"Uruk-Hai have a hard time in the SMP due to being under the dominion of Saruman"

Comments similar to this will not be:

"I would never date a stupid Hobbit, they have ugly hairy-feet and they are lazy, smoking pipe-weed all day!"

"Lorien Elves are all thieves and don't deserve any women"

Incivility and Personal Attacks

Certain users on here have a preference to directly attack people, and other users have a preference indirectly attack people with snark. Unfortunately the latter is more unclear and difficult to enforce. The moderation team recognizes this as an issue and to address it when handing out bans or warning, or when removing comments this will be taken into account. The context of the personal attacks or incivility will be taken into account when making decisions on how to handle these situations. This will not excuse personal attacks, but if one party is being snarky and they are personally attacked as a response, that will be taken into account. Negative generalized statements do not necessarily count as personal attacks or incivility.

Other Inquiries

  • There was some discussion about permitting personal advice posts on this subreddit, we are wondering what everyone's take on this would be, of course the advice would have to be relevant.

  • The rules will be updated eventually to reflect the changes the subreddit will be going through.

  • Welcome our newest moderator William_Howe to the team.

  • If you have any suggestions for the subreddit, they can be posted here and also tell us what you think of the rule changes.

As you know from the last post hyperrreal and cuittler are stepping down as moderators. I would like everyone to thank hyperrreal and cuittler for moderating this subreddit and they did a good job at making sure it does not burn to the ground, hopefully we will do an excellent job moving forward.
