Those who have dated men/women in your workplace, what was your experience like? did it get awkward seeing them everyday? or was it a positive experience?

I could see being it being so awkward because you see each other everyday lol you run out of things to talk about and everyone knows or thinks you guys are together. I do like this girl who I see her everyday in school, but I don't want to ask her out now because then I would have to deal with what I stated above. I don't want to see my girl friend everyday... Lol It's always good to strike when the iron is hot, which I can't, so I guess I just need to find other women. Is it ever too late to ask a girl out? I feel like it is. Thoughts?

To many of us a job is just a gig, it’s not our life , its always american posters treating workplaces as puritan shrines.

America is the most litigious society in the world. Dating someone in the workplace is just begging for trouble.

What does litigious mean

[–]poppy_blumonogamous slut apparently 5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

“unreasonably prone to go to law to settle disputes”

Fuck no. Way too much risk, especially for an endeavor that has a low probability of success anyway.

The only people that made it awkward were coworkers. Examples said to me below.

  • When are you guys getting married?
  • You'll get back together.
  • He told me you guys weren't serious.
  • Was he good in bed?

[–]throwaway164_3 5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, was he good in bed?

it can go so many different ways.

i dated a coworker where it went horribly. i think things would have gone south even if we had met under different circumstances, but then to deal with him everyday after it ended was frustrating.

my sister married her coworker, and they are very happy.

i currently work with my boyfriend, but that started after we had been together almost a year. i assumed it would be a horrible idea but it’s actually been really nice and we work well together.

You don't really have a girlfriend if you're not excited to see her everyday.

I've done this at 3 different companies. It was great every time. Had a chance to make use of the boss's chair, overlooking the city skyline.

A fair percentage of people meet their spouse at work. Don't miss your chance because of non-existent rules.

It was fine. Easy come, easy go

Not everyone is a big whiny dramatic child about relationships

[–]ruboyuri 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

When you’re young and stupid fucking other young and stupids, the stakes are lower and not taken as seriously

Older adults, on the other hand, should behave as their rank warrants

[–]darkvalleys 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I have. It wasn’t a big deal because we were not important and didn’t cause drama

Be in a position of power and cause drama — you should be canned. Because you’re fucking with peoples money

It was fine for me, I’m still with him 16 years later. We were working together for a few years before we started dating, and quit that place together (it was a sinking ship). And I was dating someone else there before lmao (the ex and I didn’t meet there though, it was just a coincidence).

I’ve never encountered a problem of “running out of things to talk about” (I still find shit to talk about with people I’ve known decades, don’t see how working together affects this in any way), nor was it any issue that “everyone knows we are together” (they did, and we didn’t care).

horribly

Back when I was a floor manager dating a server ; At one point she cursed me out in the middle of the shift in front of the entire staff.

workplace relationships are weird because alot of the time you probably would have never encountered or dated them in any other circumstance.

It's likes dating someone in jail. Just doing something to kill time. If a women is flirting with you at the job, there's a good chance it's out of boredom. she's not actually the "one"

When I was in relationship my ex made me quit my nursing job because my coworker is getting touchy and flirting with me. It’s awkward. I tried putting a sexual complaint but they didn’t really care they just give me and her a talk. She’s still in my shift so my ex made me quit.

I never seriously dated a girl at work, like a GF, but I’ve had sex with them. It was more of them working in the same building than people I had to actually work with everyday or even see everyday. The first was when i was at bjs in college and I was smashing this girl who worked as a cashier and I worked produce. She worked days and I worked midnights we only really saw each other at work was maybe when I was clocking out. It was a summer fling type of thing.

But the last time was years ago.

I had a lady who was a FWB. She worked at the front desk and I have my own office but I'm not in charge of her in any way. I broke up with her as I was looking for more than what she could give. We parted amicably. We remain friends to this day although she no longer works at the office. When she did work there after our break up I will admit that would occasionally get those butterflies in my stomach and yearning feelings for her. They were some awkward times but we were always polite and friendly with each other. I think my situation was about as good as anybody could hope for and I really dodged a bullet considering how bad it could be. By the way we kept it secret from our colleagues which I think was ideal.

[–]throwaway164_3 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

How did you initially hook up with her?

[–]Fit-Faithlessness149 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I would spend a few minutes occasionally talking with her up at the front desk. I had a hernia surgery and she started texting me asking if I needed anything. We started flirting and I learned about the difficult divorce that she had gone through. She was living with her son at the time and I think feeling lonely so I told her we should get together sometime. She came over to watch Netflix with me one night. Pretty sure it was movie 43. She went off to the bathroom and came back in a short nightie with no panties. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. It was one of the most straightforward and no nonsense ways I've ever had a woman come on to me.

I had a torrid love affair with a mannequin at the department store I worked at. We left on good terms, He still works there.

With one it was awkward when it ended but I didnt have ill will towards him.

The other one was a douche outside of work, he was nothing like he portrayed himself to be at work.

We met at work and have been together over two years now. We live together so we do see each other every day (which is pretty normal...), but we don't have to see each other at work every day. Most of the time we're in different buildings. Since we have similar jobs though, it's been extremely convenient to be able ask each other things without worrying about getting annoying. There are several married couples that work for our company.

Meeting at work and, in your case, at school, strikes me as very normal. But you do you.

What the fuck does a woman at your workplace provide that another women cannot. Apart from risk and complications?

Don't shit where you eat.

I only semi seriously didn't once, and it was fine, never really got awkward or anything but that was working in the kitchen, I think it's one thing to do that in a kitchen or in retail work or something like that, I probably wouldn't entertain the idea at all if I worked at some high-end corporate job

[–]That-Job7752 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Fun and exciting at first.

100% a horrible decision.

it can go many different ways.

i met my boyfriend at work. we started our relationship after 7 months of friendship. we started living together for a 3 month period maybe 3 weeks after our relationship officially started. so for 3 months, we secretly dated, spending large amounts of time together during the day and still coming home with each other at night. i think it was an early indicator of our compatibility, as we never got tired of each other even after spending extreme amounts of time together early on. our company highly discouraged relationships between employees, so we also were very careful to keep our relationship secret for the first 5 months, until he quit. it was never awkward, it felt kind of like a secret game, flirting subtly and stealing glances.

that being said, i have seen it become very awkward for people when it doesn’t work out.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
