You're comparing a single business operating well within legal boundaries to an entire shadow economy. There are no concerns about underage girls, human trafficking, or abuse because it clearly has not occurred here. And to deny that it frequently does happen in unlicensed "massage parlors" is to put your head in the sand, it's very well documented. These are properly licensed adult therapists who have chosen to perform this service.

How do we explain this double standard given these facts?

The issue with this post is that we don't have enough evidence to draw a meaningful conclusion either way. For example, maybe The Sun didn't write about how the masseuses are victims of human trafficking because they clearly are not.

I would also question analysis which suggests that the way The Sun is reporting on this represents how real people will perceive it.

That's not to say you are necessarily incorrect, but this one example is not enough to establish a meaningful trend.

More power to the women that decide to get this massage. As long as both parties are consenting adults, who cares.

Now having said that I am sick to death of women describing these places as harmless fun while condemning guys for using prostitutes. It is basically the same type of service and what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

It's also about class divisions. You can find any number of similar articles about the joys of being a high priced prostitute.
It's very carefully skirting the local law. Such places may not advertise sex, but sensual touch has a long leash to play with.

I don't care if women want to pay someone 250 quid to get 'massaged' but I'd be very surprised if this ever became a thing. For one thing, the masseuse is female - will straight women ever go, in numbers, for that? I dunno, seems super weird to me. I don't want a lady touching my lady parts.

Also, jesus, that article. The 'reporter' even plays coy about telling whether or not she got off (although I assume the talk of 'tingles' means she did?). Fuckery.

But yeah, I do agree, it's a double standard. We have a lot of happy-ending massage places where I live. They get shut down all the time, then reopened under new names. People generally laugh at the guys who go in, call them losers, creeps, etc. The tone of this article is very different. I guess we'll have to wait and see if these become mainstream, then see if the women who use them are laughed at.

Easy. Women are Wonderful effect and society being sexist toward men. Feminists fight sexism and shaming directed at women, and they were able to remove some stigma. I seriously doubt this would be acceptable in the 50s, for example. But they do not bother with their own (and everyone else's) inherent sexism towards men.
