There have been several career women threads lately. Seems to be that a lot of people don't actually understand today's marriage markets. Its not UMC women who are having trouble finding guys to marry. Its women who are not who are struggling. https://qz.com/1048233/marriage-is-increasingly-the-province-of-the-college-educated-woman/

Academics June Carbone and Naomi Cahn examined this issues in their book Marriage Markets. https://global.oup.com/academic/product/marriage-markets-9780199916580?cc=us&lang=en&# Carbone and Cahn noted that contrary to popular myth the most educated and most successful women have little trouble finding men. They showed that women are most successful and are treated best in marriage markets where there is a surplus of men (no surprise there). When looking only at the marriage market for graduates of first tier colleges and universities who have successful careers its apparent that men are still over represented. Carbone and Cahn also documented increasing assortative pairing (i.e. from within socioeconomic groups). Thus these true UMC women have a surplus of eager men to choose from.

Underlying this argument is the fact that not all college diplomas are equal. Much has been made of the fact that more women than men go to college now. However, at the most elite schools and especially in the most intense and competitive programs men still predominate. These guys compete for the smaller cohort of elite women. So in truth there is actually more of a first tier woman shortage.
