When you think back on it, what makes you “fall in love” or feel “in love”?

I was asked this question in another thread.

I thought it was a great question to ask to everyone else!

I’ll go first.

I’m Grid. If you recognize this username, you know I love to pedantically analyze “the why” and “the how,” so the below might seem “clinical” to some.

When I assess who I’ve felt “in love with” the following three bullets were absolutely satisfied:

  • respect: In some way shape or form I regard and admire them. Whether it’s admiring the way they behave, the way they move, the way they think, their competencies, etc.
  • comfort: They feel like my best friend almost, we get along and want to hang out and do things together, I’m at peace with them, I trust them, I can feel vulnerable with them, etc.
  • lust: I want to f*ck them. They arouse me. I feel desired by them and desire them.

Sabrina Claudio famously wrote in her song “Stand Still”:

I want trust too

I want lust too

I want love too

I want this too

I want us too

I’m wanting you

And that 19-year-old sage wasn’t wrong!

What makes you feel in “🥰🥰🥰” about a romantic partner?
