It is getting attention because people are interested in the topic. Media is a for profit business. It’s also a copy cat business. Articles and videos about men suffering are now getting clicks, which means revenue for those media outlets.

The question is why do podcasts, articles and videos about male suffering now get clicks? Enough men are now suffering that it’s beginning to have economic and societal effects. Corporations are losing workers and profits. Women aren’t finding partners. These groups want to know the reasons why.

The attention comes and goes. One thing I don't think a lot of people really like, get is that sex and relationships are used as a form of population control. In China, the Lying Flat movement says to not work hard for bullshit jobs, but they also say don't habe relationships and don't dine out to eat anything fancy either. When r/wallstreetbets fucked over the hedge funds in the GME fiasco a dude in a suit came out to makena speech about how instead of doing this they should be asking out girls and living normal lives. When financial papers talk about this they'll either bring up the idea that men aren't "economically attractive" or bring up that married men work signifigantly more hours than single ones and pay way more taxes. Hell even in the movie They Live one of the first covert messages to be decoded was that men should marry and reproduce.

"The System" wants people to be pairing off and pumping out kids because married men with kids have mortgages and car payments and buy way more big ticket items that keep large sections of the economy afloat while the stereotypical single dude is living a hyper minimalist life with like one chair and a tv and a gaming console.

They don't care about you based on your needs. They care about you because they want you to buy an overpriced domestic minivan and keep the real estate market afloat and buy expensive trips to Disney World to line their own pockets and they can't do that if people aren't making babies.

Governments, corporations and mainstream media are getting scared that more and more men are choosing to opt out of the system as dating and marriage simply isn’t worth it anymore. This means the population will eventually decrease which will lead to a collapse in the economy as there are less wage slaves being born to keep businesses afloat and maintain infrastructure.

Evolution says I am more disposable than a woman is. There is a growing culture in the STEM field to find a “replacement” for men’s role in reproduction. Western religions say it is my duty and purpose to serve, fight and die for my nations given ruling class because god put them there to rule over me. Many popular and influential women have popularized hating men. Some for valid reasons, others less valid. I was valued for my strength and encouraged to become a weapon for a resource war (I’m a veteran who begins to regret it), a source for material wealth (high taxes, heavily biased divorce courts, wage theft etc all taken from the fruits of my labor). I am broadly hated for being the same gender as is typically associated with “evil” in my culture. Conclusion: I was never valued for my mind or heart or soul. I now doubt the love (all forms of it: family, friends, lovers) I felt in my life as I now cannot help but realize that I was loved not because I was worth loving, but only for what material resources I can provide: food, water, shelter and wealth. That isn’t love to me. The toxic women can figure it out among themselves how they wish to right their wrongs, meanwhile I’ll invest in companies strategically to profit off of their vices so that my spite is satiated in a nonviolent means, so that I can use the profits to buy remote land so that I can continue to observe and write about this world we live in. Gents they expect violence from us. Do not give it to them because it is a feint, a trap, and that is exactly what they want. Embrace philosophy, psychology, charity, admiration for the natural world and allowing a safe a judgment free zone for other men to cry and yell and vent about the problems we have all been conditioned to push deep deep down. Sexual urges pass but my self respect will carry on until I die, depression diagnosis be damned. (Sorry for the vent)

Because our society depends on the labor of men to function & yet men are increasingly being shown & told they don't matter, so we're not exactly inclined to be part a system that not only doesn't care but also mocks us for it. It's starting to have social & economic ramifications. Birth rates continue to plummet, men are dropping out of society at ever increasing rates. Covid kickstarted the Great Resignation. Some male workers, whose jobs keep the world running, are a part of the group that resigned. These men realized that there will not be a wife or family to provide for, so they just don't bother. They know they don't need as much to sustain themselves, and that they might as well work less, or quit altogether and live on welfare. As a result, production plummets, prices increase, and standards of living cannot be maintained.

Men giving up on being productive members of society is slowly getting more and more visible, to the point where cracks are starting to show in our daily lives. That's the point where mainstream media starts to pick it up.

If you listened to the video you would know that this is a result of bad national policies and de-investment from the middle class and investment into the rich and older generations. Scott Galloway says this is the returning to the natural order of things.

That the investment of the US after WWII into the working middle class of the seven million men returning how with opportunities such as obtaining higher levels of education through the GI Bill, subsidized mortgages, and jobs in UNIONIZED manufacturing made more men more desirable to women because they could provide a stable environment to create families. With the outsourcing of manufacturing a society that doesn’t value young men, which is evident by the way society views the systemic issues surrounding equality for people of color and women, issues facing young men are considered ones that are problems of individual responsibility. He goes on to mention the benefits society receives both socially and economically when marriage is prioritized and coupling is strong.

And that there is a DEFICIT of economically and emotionally viable young men.

He says that the invention of the middle class is really an accident and the only way it occurs a when it’s deliberately facilitated by the government.

The middle class was created through a tax rate of 91% which was redistributed through social programs that made young people more economically viable.

He says that dating environment due to social media is just “a chaser” to the problem.

Galloway says we need to talk about the reasons for this honesty. He says that men and women have different dating criteria where 1/4 of men believe that economic viability to mate is important and 3/4 of women say that is important.

So online dating is a two dimensional plane problem where men are looking to find the most attractive partner and women are looking for men who signal that they’re able to garner more resources.

The average attractive male gets swiped on 1% of the time and there 3 men for every 1 female on Tinder.

And online dating takes away the human component of relating to one another like vibes and humor and pheromones.

Also there is no third space anymore for young people to really mingle and see each other face to face.

Additionally, women are choosier because more women are completing college degrees, owning property, and 50% of women won’t date anyone shorter than them and women are becoming taller and men shorter. They also won’t date someone who isn’t at the same educational level as them. Chris Williams called this the “High Heals” effects

So, the the majority of women seek the minority of men.

Women who say they can’t find anyone to date really mean they can’t find anyone to date that is economically and emotionally viable.

He says if we don’t do more to invest in young men the things attributed to the middle class that are beneficial to society will continue to decline and we will end up with a population of men that are terrible citizens.

He says that the advocacy right now online for men is just thinly veiled misogyny so it’s almost impossible to have an honest conversation because the men talking about young men’s issues have tainted the waters so a conversation can’t be had.

He says the solution is an investment in opening up more freshmen seats at colleges, mass investment in vocational training, housing accessibility, and stopping the transfer of young people’s wealth to the older generations.

We did away with child tax credit and gave seniors the highest cost of living increase in history.

He says “we” (voters, industry, older generations, politicians, leadership) have made a decision to make it harder and more expensive for young people to find each other, for people to mate, and for people to have children. He says that is we don’t do anything there will be 8x the amount of people over the age of 60 and 1/2 under the age of five by the turn of the century due to population decline, and economic downturn.

Really glad you mentioned the Scott Gallaway segment on Smerconish. It was funny because Galloway confirmed literally every redpill "tenet" which women here are so desperately trying to push back on. I don't think its so much about suicide rates as much as it about a relative maturity of the conversation. People need to use their fucking brains. Lets say standards are increasing for men and more women are looking for men not only better looking/earning but also more socially or emotionally calibrated. That means an ever smaller pool of men to choose from. Men, who inevitably will be more choosy because they can be. Lets say those men choose primarily for looks and similar levels of behavioural compatabilty...then take the fact that much of the female US population is fat and many more are also prescribing some form of medication for their mental health. That means that fewer women will actually have access to this desirable men. Now of course the solution is just to stay single right? Cool...but good luck trying to afford anything in this inflation ridden economy with a single 50k wage whilst living in an urban area (because its not like there's fuck all opportunities in rural America and even WfH seems to be dying a death). The outlook is bad for both genders.

This is the immigration debate all over again. Here in the UK we saw Germany let in a million Syrian refugees back in 2015 after the conflict. This gave people in Europe the shits and instead of those on the left to address the genuine concerns effectively, they crapped out slogans like "refugees welcome" and deemed everyone who spoke out as a racist. In the UK at least this gave right wing reactionary twats the fuel to ignite nonsensical policies such as Brexit. But the funny thing is now, immigration isn't even popular among traditional lefties. The current Conservative government has been enacting some absolutely vile policies in an effort to deter asylum seekers and many of them don't receive adequate pushback from the opposition because they doing such would be a vote killer.

Has been discussed here before. One strong argument being that men often have casual hookups they wouldn't call relationships while when women have casual hookups they do call it relationships. I think this statistic is not enough controlled for these factors because it simply relies on a questionnaire.

Now it's becoming ultra competitive in the workplace where we are now competing with the best and brightest around the world. House prices have risen above income levels and really you need to make 200-500k to make a comfortable living.

Women have grown up with social media now and want the highest earning individuals which narrows down their pick of the population. As much as it's commonplace to argue about the gender pay gap, we have more women than ever before in the workforce earning equal or higher than the average pay to males. They want the benefits of the previous generation, i.e. marrying someone with a higher paying job that can provide a better quality of life, yet most men they meet are at their levels or lower.

Dating has also ruined long term relationships. Dating provides all the benefits without any of the responsibilities. Why would anyone want to settle down? More couples are opting out of having children leading to even less reasons for tying the knot.

What's left is a whole lot of single people dating around through their 30's and 40's and both parties haven't been felt as alone as they do now.

There's been a lot of good comments on this thread. I think one thing that has put this on the radar is the recruitment crisis in the military. The people in charge need men for combat arms, and they can't sign them up. I think that actually has spooked them more than the general shortage of workers because in the past they've outsourced manufacturing and imported cheap labor like mad bastards. We are now de facto at war with Russia and that war may turn hot. (I offer no analysis of the wisdom of this course of action or the prospects for its success as that is outside the scope of discussion for this sub) This isn't the only reason for this issue to come up in the media, but it's one.
