I don't know if you'll be able to read this. That sample size is small and uneven. (N = 2643; 892 male, 1751 female) . On top of all that the mean and standard deviation of both groups in Orderliness is almost the same. Furthermore, all of this would also depend on the definition of Orderliness. If it entails who is going to keep the house more organized than it is a multivariate problem where who works more would also play a huge role. If men, in general, are working 10 hours more than women, then women would have more time to keep the house in order and be more organized. I agree there is definitely a correlation between being organized and neuroticism. but according to this study, the difference is so small that it is better to just ignore it. From this study, it is clear there are too many factors in play that change the "Orderliness" scores which means it is a multi-variate problem and not necessarily means women are more "neurotic":
"Age moderated the gender difference in residualized Orderliness, such that the gender difference favoring women seen at younger ages decreased to non-existence and reversal at older ages. The age trend for women indicated a decline in Orderliness relative to Industriousness, whereas the trend for men indicated an increase."

Uhh, you care way too much about what other people on the internet say. But like, seriously, who cares. Day to day, such a broad generalization about something so minimal barely means a thing. Anecdotally though, my SO is more of a rule follower while I am much less messy than she is.

The idea was women evolved to be detail oriented while searching for berries, roots, tubers, etc. while living in a hunter/gatherer society. Modern women utilize these skills to stalk social media pages and hunt men. Their makeup is warpaint.

Agreed. Just go to the average 20 something male apartment versus 20 something female apartment. I think this is also a big reason why women are doing better than men in pretty much everything these days. A lot of work and school now consists of tedious organization and repetitive tasks that women are better suited for.

After having a baby, the woman's brain reshapes for few years into having bigger incentives for orderliness and cleanliness.

It is an INCENTIVE not a skill nor a performance.

Men and women both had to organize everything since the dawn of time. Men built the structures you live in, gigantic physical or abstract structures that can work only because it is designed properly.

The only difference between men and women in the end is how neurotic they get about it.

I also agree with lonelinessmademecave's comment about women being more average and men easily going to the extremas. Still, women don't pick in the lower bracket.

I think it depends on if you have a type A personality or a type B personality. Type A personalities like to have everything in place and like to push and keep on top of things. Type B personality is more chill and fun but is more apt to not be on time and is messier.
