Take this video for example

One team has a guy with cerebral palsy and can't walk. The other team decides to make their team name 'Four working legs'. We all find this funny, hence the video's popularity.

Deciding to make their team name 'Four working legs' was a risk. It could have gone poorly and offended people, but it didn't because they pulled it off. They pulled off the joke. They pulled off the social risk.

The reason why I'm bringing this up is to illustrate a larger point. When you're flirting with a woman and you take a social risk that you manage to pull off, it's extremely attractive to her. Flirtatious banter usually involves a lot of things that are slight risks. They could be perceived as transgressions, but if you have social acuity then it will actually go well.

Being able to get away with certain things socially makes women attracted to you. It's what comedians do when they're on stage for example. A lot of the appeal of comedians is that they're saying things that are completely 'out there', but they manage to do it in a way that isn't awkward. In general, everyone seem to be attracted to people who can do things socially that are huge risks that can pull them off.

One more quick example before I conclude, here is Russell Brand flirting with women. Take note of how many social risks he takes effortlessly and the reaction he gets from women.

The #metoo accusations sometimes involve men knowing that the women they're interacting with are objecting to what they're doing, and they continue anyway. This is obviously a crime. Other accusations involve men making a move, or trying to escalate the situation in some way, and failing. These men aren't predators, they just lack social acuity. A charismatic guy could do the exact same thing but pull it off just by having social acuity.

We're punishing a lot of men for simply lacking social acuity. Discuss.
