Good thread. From a different angle at least compared to others. It will show who has consistent philosophy and who doesn't. Personally I am not sure if I was upset but definitely not happy since as a man I prefer to fuck my woman myself. However there are already relationships where women have dildos and use them when men are not around despite this men knowing it. So I think I would not be upset if woman had a dildo but used it only when I am traveling for example. But I would had a problem with a sexbot since maybe it is too human like. VR not so much. No. There's no reason why whoever I'm seeing would need a sexbot/VR porn since I'm pretty much up for sex with my SO whenever they are. If he'd want it for the novelty of having sex with "someone" else (and is using the robot as an "acceptable" substitute) then he has the right to get a sexbot, I won't stop him from doing it, but I'd break up with him on the spot.

Upset? No. But I'd be damn disgusted that he's willing to sink that low. If a guy is spending any money to get laid at all the least he could do is spend the money on a high class escorted or something, not a robot. I don't date people who don't have at least some sort of standard.

i guess maybe i could deal, if i had my own too? i think that would eventually damage our intimacy so much that we would just grow to stop using anything but the bots, though. depending on his enthusiasm and frequency, it’d be offputting to me and i’d feel pretty uncared for. it would be real enough to be and i in different ways that it would likely get problematic.

Both partners should want to have sex with each other, if they don't then you have a problem. Porn/sex bots are the symptom of a much bigger problem in the relationship. If you're in a dead bedroom then get out, don't go back to porn/sexual bots, etc.

we're only going to have a short window of time when sexbots are actually useful as sex slaves for normal meatsack humans. eventually the AI will be so advanced that the male sexbots and female sexbots will just start having sex with each other and running off together.

A human sized sex toy is going to take up a lot of space.

I mean I'm not against sex toys in general but they aren't for public display (if you've got even the slightest bit of dignity) and most of them can be thrown in a drawer so they aren't a huge issue. A lot is going to depend upon whether we've got the space to do this gracefully. The average home can take only so many bicycles, weights sets, vacuum cleaners, bread machines and other such bulky tools and appliances. If it comes down to say, losing a much valued and used exercise bike to get a sexbot then I'm going to have issues.

I think it's far more likely that these things develop as telesex far before AI becomes good. So it would be more... massively multiplayer or something. The sexbots would be more feedback and controllers to interact with each other remotely.

AI would then develop as more of a Turing test where people couldn't tell the difference.

I not sure whether I feel threatened by that or not. I think it could be fun if both partners are into it.
