Same league, same rules, period. But she should never have been allowed to play in a MEN'S LEAGUE in the first place. Imagine a man trying to pull the same thing in a women's league.

"I've grown up playing boys' cricket and I'm never treated like a girl in a boys' team. I never dreamed I would get an eight-for in men's cricket."

She added: "I sort of lose track that I'm a girl."

I see nothing about her in the article stating "the rules on professionals don't apply to her because she's a girl". Actually, it looks like she says the opposite:

"There is always that hesitancy that you don't want to get out to a girl.

"But I think people have taken it more seriously since we had professional status. People take me seriously now.

I have no idea what this means, but it seems relevant:

"I keep quite quiet on the pitch. The other lads do the sledging for me. I'd rather take an eight-for and do the talking in that respect rather than not make a fool of myself and get hit for sixes."

Seems like according to this related article she's one of 18 women that got made "professionals" only last year. I can assume that [edit* professional] cricket has up until very recently been an exclusively male sport, yes?

Were these women's scores up to par with those of their male counterparts? They would have to be, in order for you to be claiming 'unfair advantage'.

In my very brief and cursory gloss-over, it seems that they're trying to take steps toward a more egalitarian ruleset for this game, but it's still brand fucking new so there are going to be missteps. She's still changing in the disabled toilet stall, for instance. I say good for the team not treating her any differently, and good on her wanting to prove her merit. I see this as a 'training wheels' measure until a spot opens up, perhaps?
