Good Samaritan law's will protect you if you provide aid to someone in need even if something goes wrong. All 50 states and DC have them in place. The lawsuit will be 100% thrown out and it's actually kind of amazing it was even allowed to be filed in the first place.
You should help everyone you see regardless of their gender, religion, sexual preferences, mental illness, etc... Don't be a pussy and not offer someone help because "it doesn't involve me". We have way too much of that bullshit going on and now people just don't have the balls needed to get involved in situations that they absolutely should get involved in.
We as parts of society must be willing to reinforce our shared cultural views on society and failure to do so leads to a degrading of said society. If you see someone stealing from a store, stop them. If you see someone breaking into someone's car, stop them. If you see someone throwing trash on the ground, stop them. If you see someone acting like a piece of shit, stop them.
The zero tolerance bullshit in schools has lead to generations of people never willing to take a stand on things that actually could make a difference or that could be challenging.

So she would rather die than have a rib broken? Does she know canada has assisted suicide?
[–]UniqueCorpBot 81 points82 points83 points 1 year ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It’ll be, or at least should be, thrown out. Not judge worth their salt would waste their time hearing the case.
[–]ChemistryFan29 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
yes I agree
[–]Jim-Jones 70 points71 points72 points 1 year ago (2 children) | Copy Link
How do they prove that OP broke the rib and not rescue personnel?

Or the fuckin car crash she was in!

If she was unconscious then there’s implied consent by law.

I love that part of CPR training.
Instructor: you hear a rib crack, what do you do
Instructee: <while still doing chest compressions> I continue and yell at bystanders: "THIS IS NORMAL, I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO SAVE THEIR LIFE"
[–]antney0615 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They’ll usually vomit, too. I don’t want that to scare anyone away from providing help where it is needed- I think people need to know it so that if it happens they don’t freak out and stop compressions- take it as a sign that you’re doing it correctly. Don’t stop compressions until you have someone there to take over for you.

The OP in the situation is ok. Good Samaritan laws protect him.

Help stupid people, win stupid prizes. After MeToo, it's dangerous to give CPR to your opposite gender. He can be accused of sexual assault too. Good Samaritan law will dismiss the lawsuit but not in the eyes of social justice where you are forever guilty and gotaway from the justice.
[–]OctaviaPinfold 38 points39 points40 points 1 year ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Also Good Samaritan laws don't exist everywhere but where they do, they don't cover the same things, the same circumstances and the same people. For example pretty much in every place that requires a "good faith" for the protection to apply, a woman can argue that you did it for your own predatory satisfaction. And then there's places that legally require giving assistance from any random person... there you can be fucked whatever you do.

Mate, shut the fuck up. It's dangerous in the same sense that it's dangerous to swim in the sea because there are sharks. Yes, there are going to be cases where shit hits the fan, but the vast majority of people would be happy you helped them. I'm happy victims of rape now dare to speak up about sexual abuse and these things have nothing to do with eachother.

I think you underestimate the amount of crazy out there. If I came across a woman who needed CPR I'd certainly think twice before helping her.

It’s insane/awful this comment is downvoted.

Yeah this is some /r/TIHI material. I'm dumbfounded by the misogynism. I mean, it is to be expected in this sub, but this is the first time I've noticed it here.
[–]Popular-Spirit1306 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nobody is owed anything. I certainly would avoid putting myself in a situation with "sharks".
[–]ExpertAccident 9 points10 points11 points 1 year ago (5 children) | Copy Link
No idea why I’m subscribed to this sub… but I used to be a volunteer firefighter. This isn’t a gendered thing. Men will get pissed off at you for cutting their shirt off if they need emergency medical care
People like this exist regardless of gender.

Wish I had a dollar for every overdose that came up fighting after we administer narcan to them to save their lives

Fucking true as hell, brother.
[–]Popular-Spirit1306 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It is.
[–]RussianBotTrollThing 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Just take the shirt off normally and undo the buttons. I once had slip on ankle boots cut off me after a motorcycle accident. They literally cut the fucking elastic bands when they could have easily slipped them off. Don't be a fucking retard and unnecessarily destroy my shit and I won't get pissed off.

Saving someone’s life and this is the thanks you get in the good ol’ USA.
[–]Tb0neguy 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nah, I think this is just lawsuit culture in the US.
It probably helps her victim status that she's a woman and her rescuer was a man, but I think the main issue is frivolous lawsuits, not gender inequality.
[–]LurzaTheHentaiLord 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I saw a women fall of her bike and she didnt get up. I thought about that post and didnt help
[–]king_falafel 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How do you know it's a woman
[–]rndm27 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The original post referred to the crash victim as a her twice.
[–]MilanGedzicGedza123 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Kinda doesnt have to do anything with women, i have read a similar case with a man, she is just a piece of shit that happens to be a women
[–]henrysmyagent 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
If given the choice of giving gratitude or attitude, and the male recipient cannot possibly be a resource to the woman in the immediate future, then the woman will default to giving attitude everytime.
NEVER help a woman who is not a blood relative. The good deed cannot possibly help you, and most likely will bite you in the ass like it did the guy in this story.
Women are strong & independent people who do not need male assistance.
[–]RussianBotTrollThing -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So basically what you're saying is just let her die... because girl power?
I'm sure another girl could come along and help.

Ungrateful Cunt.
[–]Volkodavy 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nothing to do with gender and everything to do with them living in a country where you have to pay for medical care out of pocket
[–]Jackmoved 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Has to be a fake question for likes. Ain't no way they'd have my identity. Not staying for police interrogation, no need to give paramedics ID. Just be like "bye."
[–]Soda_BoBomb 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I mean, you have that option but I gurantee the cops and maybe the paramedics will be asking your name. You don't have to give it, but maybe he did?
[–]CramsRams -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like the cunt would rather be dead
[–]EscapeVelocity83 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She obviously doesn't like working and feels entitled to having men support her? Are you a woman would she do this to a woman?
[–]bionicmook 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children) | Copy Link
How is this a pass? Men and women have tried filing similar lawsuits in the past, and it nearly never succeeds. I guess we should just never help anyone since both men and women have been know to be ungrateful pieces of shit? I really don’t think this belongs on this sub. Maybe a frivolous lawsuit sub. But I’m not seeing the pass this woman has received.
