Rooshv Converts to Orthodox Christianity and Shuts Down Casual Sex Talk on Forums

May 26, 2019

After many years hinting at forming a relationship with God, Rooshv recently came out with an announcement that he has taken The God Pill. Just recently he announced new rules for his web forum that [casual sex and hooking up can no longer be discussed on the forum] in an effort to not encourage sin.

You guys should check out the thread posted on /r/TheRedPill about this. Lots of Christian or Christian-friendly posts getting upvoted and "enjoy the decline" type posts getting downvoted.

I didn't really see what you saw. Most of them were still saying God is delusional.

Lots of lots, self-deluded people in that thread (reflective of the subreddit).

At least he got something right. He's needed conversion for a long time. I'm happy for him even though I'm not Orthodox.

Indeed. Orthodoxy is, to westerners especially, difficult to interact with in part because of serious terminological differences (using the same words to mean different concepts) and a considerable lack of historical apologetic interaction to draw from.

That said, Orthodoxy seems to hold a certain appeal to “far right” conservatives and certain elements of the manosphere. Perhaps it is merely reactionary thinking driving it, but I imagine there is a great deal more to it than that.

Even though I'm a serious Protestant myself, if I wasn't anymore for some reason I'd seriously consider Eastern Orthodox.

He’s Oriental Orthodox though, not Eastern Orthodox which is different.

I think the appeal of the Orthodox Church is that it incorporates the de-centralized structure of Protestantism with the ritual and tradition of the Catholics. There’s definitely an appeal there.

Praise God! 😀

Who knows, maybe he'll find his way here.

Gotta respect a man for doing the right thing in his eyes.

Yes.

It is an interesting inconsistency that The Red Pill advocates the idea of operating within your own frame, then chastise Roosh and others for following their own convictions.

Manosphere: "The Red Pill is a praxaeology, use it to live life on your own terms."

Roosh: (acts on his own terms)

Manosphere: "No, not like that."

It is good for a man to have integrity in his beliefs, but the phrase you're using is straight out of the Book of Judges.

All sorts of wrongdoing in Israel are footnoted with: "In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes."

The right thing in man's eyes tends to fall short of what is right in God's eyes.

I am not a Christian but I understand your point. Thanks for making it.

Good.

It'll probably kill his forum, but... good.

[–]OsmiumZuluMod | Tulip Peddler | Married 6y[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps. I think Roosh has enough gravitas that while many of his followers may abandon the forum, I imagine many more are going to be positively influenced to consider what lays beyond, “enjoy the decline” and the nihilistic dead end of The Red Pill.

I might not be Christian, but this is an overwhelmingly good thing.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
