I think they are mostly just lemmings parroting what women have told them to think.

Men are not allowed to gather and discuss these issues any more so most Bloops actually believe the 'be nice' and 'he before she' is the natural order. Most Christians can't be bothered to actually study Scripture to find what it says so they just do, think, and say what they are told.

Tyler Durden told us all about most of these guys several years ago in Fight Club:

Women are more likely to develop an emotional connection to God that can be used for the church's advantage (for good or bad - it works both ways). As a result, the church has a vested interest in keeping women in the seats to maintain a position of power. This has been going on since just after the days of Theodosius I. Although the origin of this fem-centric preaching was a grab for power, because it went on for so long modern pastors simply follow suit and assume that pedestalizing women is a "noble" thing to do and consistent with how the church has always done things (nevermind the fact that we don't see this attitude anywhere in Scripture).

Now, Jesus is held as a shining beacon of self-sacrifice and we're all told to aspire to that same level of self-sacrifice. So, if a man leads his family, great - he does well. But if a man fails to lead his family and his wife steps up and does so, the church tells him that's even better because he's being a servant to his wife, self-sacrificing like Jesus did in order to maintain her happiness.

How do they hamster away the Scriptural incongruence? The church turns a blind eye and just assumes that all households are naturally run with men as the leaders. If women just happen to always get their way, it's not because the woman is leading the family; it's because the man is leading in a way that "loves and serves" his wife - by sacrificing the decisions he would have made in favor of the ones that serve her interests. This is then glorified as being "Christ-like" just like Jesus sacrificed himself for his bride.

What they miss is that Jesus never self-sacrificed just for the sake of it. He always had a greater purpose - and his self-sacrifice always led to his glorification. When a man self-sacrifices just for the sake of it or without enhancing his glory, he is breaking the pattern that Jesus laid out for us. Yes, men do need to engage in sacrificial love. But those sacrifices should always be there to further our own God-given agenda in life and enhance our glory as the head of the household. This is what the church misses.

Remember: God doesn't sacrifice his agenda to make the church as happy and comfortable as possible. That's not the kind of self-sacrifice Jesus engaged in. Jesus' sacrifice was specifically to further his own plan - one that he established as the leader of the relationship.

1) Probably some of this. Until men started comparing notes online, I suspect that there was a lot of official dogma that was counteracted in private by real behavior. I.e., the talk and the walk diverged but even the men themselves didn't really notice.

2) You can tell yourself any story, particularly if you're told via the Feminine Imperative that it's true. Sometimes you believe it.

The pervasive doctrine of Equality has effected Christians to the extent that they are easily led astray by deliberate misinterpretations of key texts like Ephesians 5:22ff. Modern Christianity has accepted the lies of feminism to the extent that many teach that a wife has veto power over her husband because if she is upset he must not be loving her properly. The capacity for women to have a rebellious spirit in marriage has been eliminated and the only focus is on the perceived faults of men.

They are not hypocritical, per se, and they are definitely not content.

The answer is:

3) They are BP, and by definition, weak, and have chosen the path of least resistance.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

My faith answers that categorically and definitively as the chicken.

So why does a BP marriage exist?

Did the man quit? Or did the woman act as she was instructed as part of her curse after she bit of the apple?

It doesn’t matter.

It is the MAN’s responsibility to fix himself, and most often, the wife and marriage will come online.

So why does a BP man give advice to behave as himself?

Because seeing others like him validated his existence, suppresses any thought of change, and... wait for it....

Misery loves company.

A cliche to be sure, but born of a observable trait in human behavior.

My answer may be too simple. I have read a lot of comments here and y’all are a wordy bunch and I probably can’t keep up with you.

I am directing my life towards simplicity. It’s not easy, but it’s getting simpler.

And I’ve declared it a drama free zone. That was a turning point in my relationship with my teenage daughter. I just simply don’t put up with her crap. And she loves me for it.

I went from, “I hate you and I never want to see you again,” to, “Can we hang out today, I really want to talk to you” at least five days a week.

Forgive me, I digress.

People give bad advice, not always maliciously, but because it’s from a paradigm of what they have come to accept in their own weakness.
