How do you redecorate for each season?

I love wreaths. I enjoy making them. I swap them seasonally and the big holidays get them. I'm slowly building my stash. I think front door wreaths are such a small thing that make a big difference. Especially in making a front door look welcoming.

Your pillow idea is fantastic. As long as you have the storage space to swap out seasonal pillows. Just making cases you can pop on and off. Plus they are homemade so you don't have the same Pinterest looking couch every girl does.

The apartment shouldn't look like a holiday explosion... it should still be restful and light on chachkies, especially given the modest size of the unit.

I think I'm going to get some down pillow inserts and make zippered pillow cases that fit with each season's theme.

We have various brands and sizes of flameless candles that I can buy different holders for.... sticking to different ribbons/silk florals around the pillar candles.

Disposable and cloth napkins, as well as tea towels/hand towels/dish towels are easy enough to swap out.

I'm thinking about also making my own garlands that fit the theme that we can weave lights through for the patio.

I'd like to do a door wreath, and maaaaaybe no more than two silk arrangements in the house. We have plenty of houseplants as is, I'm hesitant to swap out pots (repotting more than necessary is stressful for plants, just like rehoming pets or moving to different homes as a human person!). We have some colorful ones already which makes me feel we should stick with a relatively similar color scheme for the basics in the house from season to season... narrowing down the current color palette in the living area/patio/kitchen/bath just a bit to accommodate this.

I don't do every single holiday. For my porch I typically do a patriotic summer starting late in June, a fall decorate that turns from Halloween to Thanksgiving while staying fairly neutrally fall, a Christmassy winter and then spring/Easter. This all consists of my redoing my huge grapevine wreath with fake florals and for Christmas fresh boughs and holly I've harvested and then switching up the potted plants and any little knick knacks or decorative pieces and outdoor throw pillows on my chairs. Inside, I do summer and winter pillows and blankets on the couches, switch bedding from summer and winter (cotton vs flannel, light colors vs cozy plaids, etc). I rearrange my mantle depending on what house plants are flowering and what décor I have squirreled away in my sterilites in the garage. I think decorating for the holidays, however minimally is a great way to bring some cheer into your home and I remember my mom doing the same thing very fondly. I want my kids to share in the excitement that each season brings. I tend to lean away from cutesy decorations these days so it all looks elegant and vintage and all the things I like. I prefer to have a few really lovely key pieces than 100 cheap looking paper decorations. I have found that having a neutral base like you talk about with your white and taupe is key for making these transitions easy and not looking to over the top. I think ladies of the house who don't decorate for holidays are missing out terribly!!

My husband doesn't do holidays which sucks because I like switching up house decor. Before I met my husband the man I was with enjoyed my changing up our apartment.

January into very early February would be snowmen and snowflakes, then move to Valentines for February, the. st Patrick's day, then Easter and I'd give it a rest until just before Memorial Day and I'd do Patriotic through Labor Day and kind of give it a break and then move to Halloween and switch out a couple things to make it Thanksgiving and then Thanksgiving weekend everything was converted to Christmas, which would have the January decor and more until New Years. He's always gift me something at Christmas to add to our place and his mom always was gifting me decor for year round. I loved it. I grew up with my grandma doing the same thing.

This past Christmas, the husband put up Christmas lights outside. We hardly ever have a tree in the house (keeping to his wishes) but I always put one up in our business, fresh cut and decorated gorgeously that feel in line to the vibe of our business. He liked it well enough. I'm going to try to do Christmas this year - we are awaiting the birth (literally she's in the hospital) of the first grand baby (his grandbaby, my step grandbaby) so I'm hoping that will put him in the "We gotta do Christmas" mood!
