Ugh sorry I don't have the brain power to write out a whole well thought out comment but this caught my attention:
In Rome, where the sex trade was legal, high heels helped clients identify prostitutes in crowds.
Reminded me about the sexual arms race, where single women set the sexual standards and wives need to compete to keep their man's attention.

Heels are something I've never been comfortable in, but I have a few cute pairs that I'd love to be able to wear more often. I just don't know how. I always think I look stupid and sound like a horse in them. I've watched videos and everything. Even when I was a healthy weight, I just felt uncoordinated and awkward. Plus they always hurt, and I definitely have the right sizes.
Is there a way to get more used to them and stop looking/feeling so silly?

YES! Vacuum in them -- But really it's practice makes perfect.
First - find yourself some good, quality, shoes. Not too tall, not too short. Every woman has a different sweet spot. From there it's practice. Wear them around the house while doing chores, get use to them. Feel how your body moves differently.

Wear them around the house regularly.
You could also start out wearing wider heels or wedges, if you don't wear those already. They really help you get used to the height of heels, but they're easier to walk on because they're more stable than thin heels.
Starting out with short heels and working your way up also helps. Those 5 inch heels don't feel as high when you're used to walking on 3 inch heels regularly.

I find a small platform under the front of the foot helps SO MUCH with whether they hurt or not. And I'm not sure if you have a treadmill in your home, but if you do, hop on there in your heels! Set the speed really low and watch one of your fave tv shows. (And hold the sides if your balance is wobbly!)

Anyone know where to buy pumps for differently sized feet? Nordstrom lets you do this but the two shoes have to be at least 1.5 sizes apart. That makes no sense! One of my feet is half a size bigger than the other so cute wearable heels are very hard for me to find. Alas, one day I may just end up buying two pairs of the same heels.

Funny, heels were invented by men for men.
