The Dowdy Patient

From the post:

NYT article by therapist admits role of appearance in attracting a mate: lambasting ensues. I agree with the author; it’s absurd that his attempts to address his patient’s love life through her dowdy appearance are derided as being sexist. Thoughts?

I thought this was a nice follow up to /u/littleeggwyf 's post on The importance of how we dress. Here are some questions:

  • Opinion's on the article?

  • Do you think there is a missing connection between attracting a partner and actively trying to be attractive within society today?

  • Do you think women are penalized for dressing femininely by other women?

  • Do you think men are penalized for liking women to dress femininely in any arena?

  • By extension, how much does what your partner like factor into how much you accommodate that?
