I mentioned this to some of the ladies :D but yes, I feel like a lot of tradcon girls, particularly on twitter, are doing cosplay. Dress up. They are just playing up the image of being loving, caring, submissive girlfriends and wives.
When shit comes to shove, many women still react in a way that is disrespectful of their SO and relationship. Femininity is not just wearing an a-line skirt and bows and having long hair and providing your bf BJs by request. It's not cooking thanksgiving for your hubby from scratch every night.
it's being his support. his helpmeet. his comfort zone away from the world. It's RESPECTING him how HE wants to be respected. Even when it gets tough. Or ugly. Or he's sometimes being a jerkface. Or he didn't text you enough one week. Or when he admits he doesn't like your mother. Or when he admits that he prefers you a size 4 instead of a size 10.
Thanks for the excellent post!

it's been his support.
This is YUGE! So right now Ry is going through a shit time at work - and it's new for both of us - being his cheerleader has always come easy when his job was easy - now his job is hard, and he comes home completely drained. So learning and adjusting myself - not taking his mood personal - giving him space --- it's all just part of growing as a wife.

Love this! Such a great post. I think this post is really well written and clearly explains lots of important points.
I especially loved: "If you have respect for yourself then naturally you should respect that you chose this man. You did not choose who this man could be – but who he is today." I think a lot of women can forget this and it can be the cause of a lot of nagging and criticising. If you respect him and your own choice in being with him, then it follows that you should respect him enough to allow him to be his own person and not try to mould him into someone else.
Thank you for writing this Iris and for posting Tempest - definitely one to be bookmarked :)

I had help with that line so I can't take all the credit - But it's one of my favorites, too :)

It reminded me of how it's said: you have to love yourself before you can love someone else. It follows that you need to respect yourself to respect the choices you make. I never heard it put that way, but that resonates with me even more than the original.

Thank you for sharing that lovely article. I find reading on the subject just good for the soul and terrific for my mood. I know that this is the attitude that creates lifelong love and a successful marriage and I love hearing when fellow women are living this way and doing so well

This is so great. A great article that reminds me of your article on shit filled Twinkies. Trad life is not cosplay. It's a mind set and commitment to living your inherent desires. That is for women to follow and men to lead in a relationship. That is a deep and profound respect for your partner that extends beyond the front door. Iris, you're awesome chica.
