I like how direct and well sourced this post is. The outsourcing of the male role to various institutions and organizations is such a central part of feminism and yet not many people talk about it in depth. And even fewer people connect it to sexual promiscuity. I also feel like women's reliance on their bodies is the result of the way the female role has been outsourced due to technological advancements and things like dry cleaners/laundromats, cleaning services, tailors, fast fashion retailers, restaurants at every price point, etc. Not only do women not learn skills that used to make us assets, men grow up getting all sorts of needs met by the economy so that's what they expect. Of course a woman excelling in various homemaking and wife skills is a bonus, but there isn't as much pressure for women to go the extra mile anymore in that sphere. I definitely think this is tied to the central argument of the blog post you linked and I'm so glad that you shared it :)
This is why I cringe HARD when I hear women calling for the destruction of patriarchy. It's still the very structure they're standing on. They might as well burn down every building because men made them.
Yep and men are the ones giving them new privileges as well as the ones enforcing these changes. Feminism would not be possible without the institutions set up by and run by men.
True, when I posted this it had a kneejerk downvote which I assume might be because of how the title is phrased that it seemed far-fetched.
Yeah I think its a combination of BP lurkers and women who aren't familiar with the ideas in the article who judged based on the title and the boob photo that is the first thing you see lol!
It's not just about sex itself but how it's now detached from the concept of paternity and direct male investment.
Absolutely! I think the normalisation of birth control is tied to this as well. Sex has been separated from reproduction for a while now so modern women are not thinking in the same terms. Every step of the process can be controlled by women - preventing conception, terminating pregnancy, getting pregnant, choosing who raises the child, pursuing funds for the child (from the father or gvt or both), providing for the child via her own job, etc. Nearly everything I just listed is possible due to the expanded role of the government and other changes brought about by feminism.
or they're just not invested in their SMV because their welfare doesn't involve direct financial investment from a suitor.
Yes! We see now that many women who do enjoy things like makeup and fashion make a point about doing it "as a form of self expression" or "as art" or "for my self esteem". Looking good for men (or your man) is not considered a worthy goal. Because women can still get sex and resources without putting in max effort into their SMV and RMV, there is no reason for them to improve.
Honestly there's a lot that could be discussed from here because of how sexual currency has changed overtime. At the very primal, it's all we've had as women.
Agreed! But even in more traditional circles it is taboo to talk about these things so plainly. I'd love to explore the concept of out "sexual currency" more on this sub. I wrote Female Sexual Strategy to break down the reasoning behind RPW strategy but there is so much more to say about what's happening at present and what women have done throughout time.
After emancipation modern women use their currency mainly for attention and now in social media times it's even more muddied up.
Thinking outloud: has there been a shift to seeking short term pleasure over long term stability via our sexuality. Not specifically talking about AFBB although that is a good example. Social media (and the internet in general) gives instant gratification, several popular environments for women today also shower them in attention (e.g. modern clubs). Without having to worry about pregnancy or security women are able to live in the moment more. Which is something feminists are proud of but like you said, society is suffering.
I got a very frightening reflection of our current times, young women being fulfilled by digital likes/hearts and not striving for something more, while young men look at porn so they don't have to improve themselves either.
This is heartbreaking isn't it?! Unfortunately I don't think women will change unless men do first.
Downfall of society aside, if massive amounts of women are destroying their RMV because they are following these societal trends, then let them. It simply makes RPW/RP men rarer and more valuable.
It's like people who buy after a stock market crash while everyone else is panicking, selling and losing big.
