My husband is away for a weekend with his family. It’s only a couple of nights and I declined to go with for valid reasons irrelevant to this post.

We both wfh, but he has his own office so we don’t see each other much during the day, and he’s often just chilling quietly trying to decompress on weeknights, but knowing he’s there is comforting. Just him sleeping next to me is one of my favourite things. I didn’t realise how much his presence can impact the feel of the house until now as I’ve done a few trips myself this year (work/family) but I haven’t been alone in this space before.

We bought this place at the beginning of the year. It’s not massive. But it’s big: 2 floors, 3 beds, 3 full baths, one wrap around balcony, and one pretty big but smaller balcony downstairs.

Now it’s the coldest day we’ve had all year (southern hemisphere, winter is coming) and it’s raining. And I miss his presence. Idk how but when he’s here the house feels full even though it’s just one extra person and we’re not physically together most of the workday.

I feel his absence already and acutely. I’m sure I’ll adjust pretty quickly but it’s almost comforting to feel a little blue. It reminds me how much he adds to my life even when he’s doing nothing.

We’ve been together three years and I know that I am fully in love with him. I feel really lucky to be feeling blue right about now!

I’m going to text him and let him know, but just thought that this may be the one place where my activity-craving brain could also post about it :)
