I've stopped wearing makeup and It's made me feel more beautiful than ever.

Hellooo!

I (21F) stopped wearing makeup on September 30th to see how I would react to it (for my skin and my self-confidence.) I just wanted to share what I found through the process. :)

Before this decision, I would wear light eyeliner and mascara, concealer, blush, and lipstick. It was still natural looking but It was obvious I was wearing SOME makeup.

The first few days I felt naked, I felt like I looked tired or sick. I thought my friends would make comments or customers would ask me if I were tired or something, but none of that ever happened. In fact, my boyfriend told me I looked so beautiful without it, he liked it better. I was surprised he said this! I don't know why I was so scared. Because I wasn't wearing any makeup, my skin could breathe and my lashes could grow more. I invested in serums and face creams, skin treatments, and masks to help with my skin. My eyelashes have gotten SO LONG! I use Neutrogena lash serum and it's worked wonders. My skin has cleared up and I feel so beautiful. I see my natural skin and lashes, my natural eyebrows and I have become very fond of how pretty I can be without the use of makeup.

I also can get ready in 3 minutes versus 30 minutes in the morning for work/classes That was a real save for me!

Overall, It was one of the best decisions of my life and I'm never going back. I will only wear the occasional light mascara but that's it.

I am in no way bashing the use of makeup, I personally just had a dependence on it that I saw as a problem for me. I wanted to be able to feel more than comfortable without it.

I also haven’t worn makeup in months. But I’ve decided to enhance my natural beauty by taking various supplements (msm, s-acetyl glutathione, and collagen)to help with my hair, skin, and nails. I’ve also been using tretinoin which works wonders for my skin and at least I don’t have to worry about being flakey in public since I rarely go out these days. I’m using Latisse on my lashes and I’m starting to see results! It’s only been a month so I can’t wait to see how long they get. I think I’ll give the Neutrogena lash serum a shot once I finish with the Latisse.

I'm glad you are seeing results <3 that's the best part. I've heard wonderful things about latisse! I may give that a go for a change! Neutrogena is like 13 dollars from any drugstore, but I just thought I'd give it a go.

Congrats to you! I’m happy to see more people come down this way honestly. I’m in the same boat as you and after my birthday celebration I just stopped putting on anything to my face as an experiment.

My partner has been ecstatic about the whole thing since before my makeup meant that I couldn’t kiss or be kissed for fear of makeup transfer. Rock on!

I'm happy that's going well for yu :) !

So glad that this is working well for you! This can definitely have benefits for both the woman and the man!

Men like you looking nice, but they LOVE being able to touch you. If you look and feel beautiful make up free, go for it!

The best look for me has some how been the “post-shower rushing to answer the door” look. No make up, curly hair, and a smile, and he ends up smiling from ear to ear, too! Sunscreen and skin cream are your friend! Enjoy this for as long as you can girl! Thanks for sharing! 💕

Wow I like that idea! Natural and kinda steamy tehe. I'm glad that's worked for you!

Me too! I stopped using makeup to give my very sensitive skin a break and it’s so freeing. I actually started doing the caveman regimine so I’m not doing any skincare besides an occasional splash of water and blotting with tissue paper. Honestly this was my last resort for my hypersensitive skin but it’s improved my skin so much, more than any product I’ve tried. My skin was dry for the first few days until my natural oils built up. After two weeks my pores are smaller, my skin is dewy and all these intense dehydration lines I had are gone. It’s so freeing! I hopefully won’t have to do it forever since sunscreen was a way of life for me before, but as a reset I actually really recommend it especially for dehydrated skin.

oh wow I've never heard of that regimen before! I'm glad that worked out for you! Hmm I just may have to try that, my skin is pretty dry, so I use a serum and moisturizer.

I think it’s easier if you’re in a humid climate. I never would of been brave enough to try it in Colorado, but now I’m in the South and it’s a breeze!

Youre in your early 20s. Your youth makes you beautiful. Gets a little harder as you go on but while you have it I say go make up free! I get laser and peels and only need light powder. In my 30s though.

[–]FlouncyMcTwinkle8 points9 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Totally. I went natural throughtout my twenties and thirties. 43 now and need all the help i can get, fucking worship my foundation 😂

[–]cherrykitty87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

don't say that! You are beautiful <3 cherish how you look always.

[–]LemurianStarseed116 points7 points  (6 children) | Copy Link

Peels really hurt my skin! Lasting damage. Lasers have done the same for many. Just a warning for others, I’m glad if it works for you. I’m almost 32 and less is more for me, my skin reacts badly to any kind of inflammation.

[–]Ms_Sommersby2 points3 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

I went to an expert. I have sensitive skin and rosacea and I was so scared to get it done. I had acne scarring etc. But its worked well with subscision. Laser and all interventions are more about the person who performs it and their ability to assess your skin. My derm tried the less intense lasers and didnt go as hard at first to see how my skin reacted. Then slowly went a bit harder. He thought for my last session I could handle a stronger laser for longer but I declined and kept the moderate treatment.

I’ve heard that sometimes the machine can malfunction so I think it’s a gamble. I went to a reputable med spa in the hospital for my peel. Others have gotten injured by lasers from reputable doctors and places too but YMMV. Good for you for listening to your intuition!

[–]Ms_Sommersby0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

I do very low percent peels like 4 or 8 percent sal acid.

[–]LemurianStarseed110 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah those use to work for me before my skin got ruined by a Skinmedica vitalize peel :(

[–]Ms_Sommersby0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah spas and all those places are not where you should be going

[–]cherrykitty87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

My bf (M29) thinks makeup hides your beauty. Good for you girl. Welcome to the club ♡

[–]cherrykitty87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I think makeup can enhance your beauty in some ways, but I do agree it mostly hides natural beauty of women. Thank you :) xoxo

i stopped wearing makeup too! i feel fantastic

[–]Davidoff242 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

To be honest, I think most women look better without makeup. The only ones that look good with makeup are the ones who use natural colours that blend in so well with their skin and complexion that you don't really notice the makeup.

"Natural looking" makeup makes me laugh. Why not just go actually natural? You save time AND money...

[–]pixel_buddy2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Very nice. One more tip it seems not many young people know until it's to late, is to minimize direct sunlight.

Oh I just realized I'm over a week late to this party. I was reading though the history for a pick me up.

[–]flowers4u1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes no makeup! Honestly people get so used to you with makeup that the same will happen when you stop wearing it. And then for special occasions if you wear it, you will look stunning

[–]cherrykitty87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

ahh yes I agree! :)

I agree! I became dependent on it too much, even to go grocery shopping I would throw it on (EVEN UNDER A MASK) and I realized I don't have to do that. I also agree with you, I think most women just look much better without all the makeup! <3 we are very beautiful.

Thank you :) Do you prefer makeup because it makes her look more feminine or polished? Do you like heavy or light makeup? I'm curious!

I do agree that makeup enhances natural beauty, although sometimes it may cover it. Either way she is beautiful 💞 so sweet!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
