Yea. I wouldn't even really consider myself a RPW because I do hold some feminist values, but this is in no way a hate sub. It's just a support/advice group for those with similar ideals.

They also auto ban people for posting on subs they dislike, even if you've never gone to r/offmychest.

I got a notification I was banned awhile back because of my activity on the "hate subs" r/tumblrinaction and r/conservative... even though I've never even visited their sub or engaged with them in anyway.

I got banned immediately from r/naturalhair because I posted a comment in TiA and they said it was a hate sub and the founder “admitted to planning a terrorist attack” (the link unsurprisingly didn’t work). It’s like wtf???

What about this subreddit is considered "hate"? I totally admit that I don't fully understand all the terms on this subreddit, but I really enjoy lots of the posts on here about keeping a nice house and self improvement. I feel like I'm missing something.

Again, I don't understand TRP or RPW stuff super well, but I thought TRP was gone and RPW is basically "work to be your best self and don't make excuses, make sure the guy you are dating has qualities you would like in a husband, make a nice home and nice meals (whether you are single, dating or married), and when something bothers you in a relationship you lay it all out for your partner neutrally and let him help problem solve so you are both on the same side like a team." I just feel like I'm really missing something.

That's what it is more or less.

It's a bit confusing, but basically, RPW is the rare subreddit that's oriented per real life values. Realistically, all the things you say RPW is about are true and make for a really healthy relationship. In an extremely left-leaning internet environment, this doesn't ring well. Per current feminist political and ideological climate, wanting a family in a healthy, traditional relationship is regarded as a threat to society. Women can't like cooking or raising kids! You're doing the laundry? Why would you submit to such degrading stereotypes! We must rescue you! You are insane!

Tons of people now believe that being a SAHM, or even just raising your kids while your partner works, is submitting to the patriarchy, or to internalized misogyny because not working must mean that you hate yourself and believe you are useless and have no worth, or that you have to be rescued from the abuse of men who demand women work and do everything for them. Thus, supporting our values of how to foster healthy and happy lives, including traditional relationships, means supporting these notions, means supporting hateful conduct against women. These people don't actually support women making free choices, they have control issues and think their word is law. They think women in relationships like we encourage them here (healthy, communicative, shared workload, traditional) automatically don't exercise agency, they don't have a say, they're just blindly submitting and that no man that loves them would make them work like that. They think traditional femininity is oppression. They read "redpill" and think it means we're dating incels that believe they own women and are abusing us. There's no real thinking involved.

People that perpetuate this just lead unsatisfying lives and need to live vicariously through the perceived good impact they think they have. It's stupid. You're right to be missing something, because it doesn't make sense.

I took a course on women's studies in college and my take away was that feminism is the belief that all people are equal and everyone should get to choose the kind of life they want to have. And I agree with that belief and I think those choices include being a SAHM or having a traditional marriage. I don't think I should choose what's right for anyone else, but I don't think society should get to choose what's right for me. I am afraid I might be violating the subreddit's "no feminism" policy with this post, but I don't see feminism and this subreddit to be in conflict from what I've learned of both. Nor have I seen any evidence of hate in this subreddit in the years I've been reading it.

That’s how most people view feminism too. You want to have babies and be married and be a SAHM? Cool. You want to be a corporate director and never have kids? Also cool. One isn’t better than the other and like you said, society doesn’t get to dictate what is better for you, only you can do that. Feminism is the choice and opportunity- and the view that everyone (gender, sexual orientation, race ect) is equal.

There is a minority who speak more freely online (because, well, it’s the internet )who do take it to extremes. Every group has its extremists though. Just keep doing you and thinking your awesome positive thoughts.

I don't think you're in violation of it. You are absolutely right; the theory of feminism is great, it worked in the past, and as a woman who wants to return to work after raising my family I'm grateful that we are allowed free opportunity and choice. This subreddit is all about that and our agency as well, so your idea is spot on.

But: feminism is no longer in benefit of all women. A lot of people that subscribe to feminism today believe that the essence of it is to force women into positions of liberation and non-oppression to prove their point that women are still oppressed and need to be rescued. Forcing women to work, raising quotas, discouraging relationships with men or having children in spite of the evidence that these people are at the highest risk for clinical depression out of all age, gender and earning groups. It's quite sad. They prefer proving their point against the patriarchy over truly enabling the happiness and health of women everywhere.

Again, this is very much an online thing. The internet's interpretation of feminism is very skewed and no longer means equality in practice in a lot of places. That would be egalitarianism. So, this is why a subreddit like this is labelled as hate. Because it's a train of thought that, truly, liberates women's agency does not force us into making choices that don't benefit anyone but the person proving a point.

I think a lot of the RPW concepts are in contradiction to what from a feminist perspective is considered politically correct.

It basically happens everywhere. That what does not want to be heard or causes unpleasant feelings or cognitive dissonance is suppressed by various means. One of the labels by which this is done is "hate-speech" or "microagression".

RPW goes against the official feminist narrative, so it is discredited.

Up front I disagree with a lot of things said in this sub. I'm a traditional liberal, rad fem leaning, and I have to say this is utterly ridiculous. Ive been accused of being "alt right" because I sub to this and some other groups, but I sub to groups and like to interact in good faith with differing points of view. Where as EVERY SINGLE FEMINIST AND WOMAN AND LEFTIST group has banned me, for wrong think. Usually because I defend the fact that women are a distinct sex class, and deserve to keep their safe spaces. Either way, I'm utterly embarrassed by, and sick of the censorious, hateful, regressive, and misogynistic behavior and beliefs of part of my own political party.
It's embarrassing.

So many moms on that subreddit are so aggressive in their attitude towards their baby and their husband... I got banned from this subreddit for like two years for simply being a part of a different, unrelated sub. Actually ridiculous. Who gets to decide what is hateful and what is not? It’s literally all just opinions, as long as you aren’t attacking someone. People preach equality and inclusivity until someone may potentially disagree with them.

I think it's a good moment to remember that some people in this world are just not so bright, lack critical thinking skills, or really possibly are actually very young and ignorant, and that your own self worth has to come from within and not be based on what some random internet dummy thinks of you! I got banned from a moms subreddit for subbing here. I hadn’t even contributed here yet. I wasn’t too bummed, I thought that while the community could be great at times, they were often really inadvertently toxic (you were never allowed to criticize, even in a kind and constructive manner, so really unhealthy behavior was often perpetuated).

I guess I figure if a community is that obnoxiously concerned about muting people who have dissenting views, even though they follow the sub rules, then it’s probably not a community worth being a part of.

Redpill anything is automatically considered "hate" to several subs.

If you want to post on there, you can create a separate username and only sub to their group. They'll warn that that's not allowed but there's little they can do to find out if you're discreet enough. It's really not worth all the trouble, though. screw them.

I don’t think you should bring politics into this discussion because it takes away the credibility of the overall point. What I see happening on A LOT of online platforms is over correction. Reddit/Facebook/Twitter have all been blasted for allowing dangerous and violent rhetoric over the past decade a lot of which has resulted in terrible consequences (see: cyber bullying suicide, 2016 election, manifestos of mass shooters going viral, etc.)

I think hopefully there will be more of a balance at some point, but yeah I agree with others that you need to understand what TRP has meant for a lot of people (understandably so) and how they can assume this sub subscribes to that exact same ideology since, ya know, it’s in the name.

The best part of being born an American is having the right to live my life how I choose. And I will defend your right to choose the life you want to live, even if it differs from mine.

Literally same - I am liberal in the sense my political views are left-leaning I guess. However, I aspire for traditional values in my life and like to adhere to the “feminine” role. That’s just my choice and I believe everyone should be able to choose what’s right for them. I love this sub and it’s so sad that people think it’s a hateful one, when it just isn’t.

Edit: just wanted to add I don’t have any other form of social media, so I can’t comment on the political content on them. So maybe I’m missing something here.

I think one of the worst parts about Reddit are the mods who aren't fully paying attention and getting it. This is one of the best subs I've seen, compared to so many others that are throwing their hands up, blaming others, etc. Everyone here (that I've seen) is trying to be better, or helping others be better.
