I’ve lost about 40 pounds, but don’t have a lot of new clothes yet, so most of the time you can’t see quite how small I’ve gotten.

Yesterday my SO said “honey are those leggings too big? You keep pulling them up” I lifted up my shirt to show him that yes, they are now massive on me.

His eyes literally lit up and he went “damn Piggenheutte!!! You’ve really lost so much weight!!” He looked like he felt as though he hit the jackpot. I was so damn proud in that moment! I try not to fish for compliments so it felt great that my man is impressed with me. (Plus I look about a million times better, for both our sakes)

I got up at 5 at went to the gym! I’m really proud of myself as I have been working on getting up earlier and sticking to a routine. I’ve been going to the gym a few times a week for the last 3 weeks or so. Probably the most consistent I have ever been with it.

I've taken the week and cut down all my chores to the bare essentials to buy myself a little extra time. I've been using it to FINALLY get some of those things done that just seem to pile up but are never a priority.

So far I've organized all the bathrooms, guest bedroom, and my laundry area, designated and sorted items into "keepsake" boxes, cleaned my vacuum and replaced the filter, got the dogs groomed, finished the details for 2 of the 3 birthday parties I'm responsible for, and finished a small craft project.

I still have today and tomorrow to go but already this house feels so much better! I feel a huge weight lifted off as I no longer have all these half done projects weighing me down with stress. I HIGHLY recommend doing a "catch up week."

Finally completed a uni essay I'd be procrastinating about. I'm a distance learner and need to improve my discipline. I'm glad it's sent. I've also gotten back on track with improving my appearance through healthy eating, exercise and wearing make up more

I made pork butt for the first time ever last Sunday and it turned out amazing. My fiance said it knocked his socks off! I'm typically intimidated by cooking a new cut of meat for the first time, and having something turn out so well on the first shot has increased my confidence. Currently thinking of fun ideas for next Sunday's lunch.

My boyfriend is starting a new job as a software engineer Monday after 6 months of unemployment. I'm so excited for him! My support for him during his unemployment is paying off. He's not a "wine and dine" type of guy, but he talks about how excited he is to take me out to dinner and eventually on a cruise!

To share my own...

I read an article about this woman trying to be a fifties style housewife for a week. Her husband didn't even notice because she failed soooo horribly. It wasn't even with authentic touches, all she did was try not nagging, and cooking and cleaning.

Anyway, when my husband made an honest housewife out of me (I had been housewifing before we married), he gave me a (fake) pearl necklace as a joke gift to symbolize my new status (plastic is forever!).

So I forwarded him the article, put on my fifties style dresses and my pearls and showed him how it should be done these past few days.

There's this song by Christina Aguilera where she sings "darling what did you do for those pearls?! WHAT?! I am a good girl!"

Well I earned those little plastic beads fair and square. I mean house clean, home baked breads and cakes and home cooked puddings and the usual good meals, children read to every day and educated as necessary and taken out to play and library, looking pretty and catching up on some forgotten mending and fixing jobs, everything.

And now I'm going to take a hot bath while he orders take-out because I'm exhausted. Balance in all things ;-)

My man told me that if we have a life/kids together, I'm not allowed to work full-time (until they leave the house ofc).

That's basically all I ever wanted, to not be forced to leave my future children in daycare all day and raised by people other than me/us, so to be basically mandated to do it is my heaven.

He also wants me to be a full-time SAHM while the kids are young enough to breastfeed. For basically the whole time we've been dating, I wasn't sure if we could financially have that. But he says that's all he wants, so I assume he's going to work towards that, and that honestly is amazing to me.

I hit a PR in both my snatch and clean and jerk in the gym yesterday!

Tiny field report, my SO and I had a little tiff yesterday but with the help of you ladies I went to sleep with all the sweet words and woke up to a cute text, despite me being the biggest brat yesterday. And he's been so supportive during my trek toward graduation and grad school. Eep!

And here's my puppy because puppies make everything better.

I fit into my size medium scrub top this morning. I was wearing 2xl in September. I’m only down about 20 pounds with a lot more to go but it’s great seeing the results of my discipline. I’ve been biking about ten hours a week for 6 months now 🙌

My body fat is in the 19% range for the first time in a year! And I’m flying out on Saturday to meet my long distance honey for our official “meet the families and best friends” trip. His parents asked whether we would like to cook for them one night, so of course I am dead set on impressing them. Tentative menu:

Arugula salad with green apples and red wine vinaigrette
Broiled salmon w a lemon cream sauce
roasted asparagus with slivered almonds
Herbed risotto (mom’s fave)
Cherry tart (dads fave)

I guess this is a future brag. But it’s great to be with a guy who loves my cooking/doting who brags about me nonstop to his parents. And my dad (adopted) seems really excited to meet him too. He’s a good guy. I love how we are doing this traditional trip home since we have started talking about the possibility of closing the distance, getting a dog someday etc.

I’m nearly done completing a real estate course my SO’s parents asked me to take so that he and I can eventually take over their brokerage in a couple years. It’s been rough balancing it with my job (commuting plus OT the last 9 months), activities with SO, and step parenting, but I’m happy to have another income option too.

His parents are thrilled and just love having me around in general. His mom has literally given him several rings to look at and inquires when he’s going to ask, so it makes me happy to have their approval as well.

today was a good kitchen day -- my favorite days.

we are having another baby in just a couple weeks, so I set about preparing some postpartum nourishment. bone broth, several pints of ghee, and large batches of both chicken + beef pate went into the freezer.

also brewed maple kombucha and herbal infusions. on top of the day's regular cooking... breakfast of grain free pancakes with homemade coconut yogurt + strawberry compote on top. lunch, pork chops + cauliflower mash. dinner was salad w taco meat, ferments, and loads of veg.

ended the day with a perfectly clean kitchen + all other work done to boot. I am feeling so so good about the way I feed my family every day. and I'm extra excited about the nourishment I've set aside to replenish my hardworking mama's body/feed my husband+toddler well even when I am down recovering with baby

(also only slightly related: but this week, I totally nailed developing a new recipe for my son's birthday cake, on the first attempt. no easy feat when baking for a grain, sugar, dairy free kid w an egg allergy haha)
