When it was my SO's turn to complain about his gf during Boys Night, he didn't have much to go off of!

Hi RPW,

I've been with my captain for some time now. Since the beginning, I've made sure to control the hamster, STFU, and be considerate of his feelings. Well, He told me last night then when everyone was complaining about the bossy/disagreeable things their girlfriends/wives do to them often, he told his buddies he felt bad from them but he couldn't relate and is really happy in his relationship! He told me they just said "well, they can't all be like wingstopbluecheese!". I was THRILLED and so proud to know when my guy is around his closest confidantes he has only positive things to say about me/our relationship. Thank you for all the tips :)

My husband said his coworkers are the same way. Apparently I'm the only wife on the bunch who packs my husband a lunch, never thought something as simple as a sandwich and fresh cookies would be so highly desired...

Goes back to the good ol' phrase, "Keep his stomach full and his balls empty."

I mean really, it's that simple.

Just makes it even more sad that it's uncommon these days considering how simple it is too.

Too many people want everything without an investment or effort.

I mean really, it's that simple.

Not for me.

Why?

My man hates to sandwiches and hates eating leftovers. Do you have any suggestions on what I could pack him for lunch instead?

He makes it so hard because he also works from home a lot and literally just snacks all day on chips until I can come home and cook for him.

Tell him stop being so dam picky. You could make something everyday but thats a lot of time and effort. As a guy that just sounds like he's being babied.

Lol that’s pretty accurate, although I don’t baby him at all he usually just goes out and picks up takeout food. This sub usually advises women to have a fully stocked fridge but I prefer to stock it with healthy options and just wanted some tips on what to keep in it

If you want healthy options the home cooked food is basically it. More veggies and meat, less baked crap and sugar. Pretty simple. The hard part is getting people to make the switch to the gym a healthier lifestyle.

Bill Burr actually has a bit about this:

And if you think it's just a joke, take a look at the like/dislike ratio and the comments.

Only 4 times a year???!!

Oh good lord, I can see why his work buddies have proclaimed jealousy if standards are that low these days. That said I rarely make him sandwiches on the weekends, but I usually try to make a fresh baked treat every Saturday for him like brownies or pie.

That's the best confirmation you can get that you're doing well in your relationship :D It's definitely something to be proud of!

Congrats OP! It sounds like your man is happy and content with you, which is great news.

Interestingly, I live in Australia which has a very “blokey” culture and I do feel like men complain about their wives/SO in a joking way as a way of bonding with eachother. So it’s less about actual dissatisfaction with their wife, but rather some sort of ritual where they laugh about how much money their wife spends or how their wife wants them to come home early etc. Conversely I think if the men had actual real gripes or issues with their partner, they would clam up and not say anything at all. (This is just what I’ve gathered from having three older brothers and a hubby lol). xo

That’s delightful to hear! I’m new to this subreddit so I don’t understand certain phrases. What does “controlling the hamster” mean?

What's your best tip? I need this right now

[–]TheSelfGoverned9 points10 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Random hugs work wonders for me personally. Back rubs, even better.

[–]EmotionalSupportRat1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Great for you :)! I can't stand people that are with partners they need to complain about to their buddies.

Validation that you're on the right path and your self improvement and hard work is paying off! Good job!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
