Thank you

I recently was directed here by a friend. I started reading...and reading...and reading...and frankly I'm finding it hard to stop. Though what I have to thank you for is that, despite my initial thoughts, I am not an alpha. I am a beta.

I will read (and re-read) the posts here for the foreseeable future and hopefully learn and grow. This (pun intended) has been a tough pill to swallow accepting that I am not what I thought I was, but as with all problems, the first step in solving it is to acknowledge it. So thank you for the rude awakening.

I will now return to my lurking.

accepting that I am not what I thought I was, but as with all problems, the first step in solving it is to acknowledge it.

What specifically are the problems that you're noticing?

There are many sources that will help you understand your strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement. If your goal is self-improvement, you can find plenty of people and groups that will help you find your problem areas and develop realistic goals for attaining them - hell, some even use the same "rude awakening" tone. Point is, while TRP will often tell you that society hates their philosophy, no one is opposed to self-improvement. You're not alone in that regard.

TRP is one source of many. Don't feel like you need to restrict yourself.

That is to say, they use one (vague) philosophy to approach self-improvement. Other self-help sources can achieve similar results in different ways.

Sometimes it's better to ask questions than it is to remain ignorant. If you don't know something, it is better to find out.

Now that you've discovered TRP, you know what it is like to be ignorant, don't be ignorant any longer.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
