This is goddam fascinating. It's like... the hamster has become self-aware, and kicked into overdrive trying to explain its own existence.

To me, that thread reveals two things:

Women are completely out of touch with how they make decisions.
They automatically and effortlessly make shit up to protect their egos.

Self image. I believe this is the point that's mostly made in /r/askmen[1] . The answers are what you want to be and not what you are. Completely fictive example: Would you go for a really ugly guy? Saying no would mean I'm shallow. I'm not shallow therefor I must say yes and motivate it by e.g. something about personality even though let's face it there are some people we simply do not find sexually attractive despite enjoying their company and personality.
