Pulp Fiction

That scene from PF where Rosanna Arquette is watching John Travolta inject Uma Thurman in the heart after an OD. The look on her face... absolute fascination mixed with a kind of elation at the drama and serious nature of the interaction... like a glimpse into a world they normally don't get to see.

I have seen this same look on my 5 yr old daughter's face when I discipline the dog. It's obvious she is getting a vicarious thrill from watching me dominate. She even interjects suggestions on punishment or reward to me. This is a five year old, so this isn't social conditioning... seems to come naturally.

I have seen the same behaviour in grown women as well. Seems like I get serious alpha points if a woman sees me dominate someone in a weaker position than myself. I'm on the phone dressing down an employee for some serious mistake, and I see the same look as Rosanna or my daughter... a pretty creepy pleasure/horror fascination thing is going on.

So I did an experiment.

Installed one of those "fake call" apps that rings you like a real call, but you're speaking to nobody. I absolutely eviscerated the "caller" and made sure my subject could hear my end of the call. Threatening termination etc... Same look... I had to get a sponge.

Apparently watching me in the act of domination flips the switch.

I could have told her to bark like a dog while I smear her body with rotten mayonnaise and she would have done so.

So apparently being perceived as an authority figure in control is a turn on for women, but actually seeing that authority exercised is a force multiplier.

Better living through evolutionary biology and understanding how it works.

Thanks RP...

Edit: Wow you guys were not kidding. There apparently really is plenty of blind hatred for RP ideology out there. I weep for the future.
