This post is in response to the post that 50% of marriages have always ended in failure. Ironically the author cited to examples of two highly successful marriages in an attempt to prove his point.

The first example he cited was Tolstoy, a man who was a known womanizer, gambler and boozer. The man lived to a ripe of age. His wife was a daughter of the Czar's personal doctor, so a family of high status and intelligence. By all accounts Tolstoy's wife was extremely smart.

Then he cites Lincoln. His wife Mary Todd came from a rich, socially prominent family. By all accounts Lincoln was brilliant, he early court cases show this. But he had one limitation he was poor and lacked social status. Mary Todd had numerous suitors, but despite this Lincoln managed to get her to marry him. Because of his wife's social connections it advanced Lincoln's political career.

The article here outlines the major factors which contribute to divorce. www.wf-lawyers.com/divorce-statistics-and-facts/

Pretty much proves TRP. Couple of exceptions big factor is income earning ability and IQ. The higher the IQ of both couples the less likely divorce will happen.

Women who lost their virginity as a teenager are more than twice as likely to get divorce in the first 5 years of marriage than women who waited until age 18 or older.

Don't marry a slut.

Those with “below average” IQs are 50 percent more likely to be divorced than those with “above average” IQs.

People with low IQs have poor impulse control. Along with this the article states that if one of the partners (most likely the woman) has poor spending habits that increases the likely hood of divorce. Poor spending habits are also indicative of poor impulse control which is linked to IQ.

The book the bellcurve shows that IQ is inversely proportional to divorce.
