Almost divorced male: When I found evidence of her having an affair on her phone and confronted her, so she assaulted me, and then called the cops. Then got a protective order on me, got it extended with a hyperbolic and half-truth affidavit to include kicking me out of our home and taking my son away. I realized it somewhere between her mom calling the cops on me the next day for "stealing everything in our home" and being served the protection order. The cops felt so bad for me. I've had to talk to them 3 different times and all of them realize what a spin she's playing. Just waiting for my day in court.

It's so sad that this dude thinks that the family courts will give a shit about how his wife treated him. Family courts do not care if the wife is unfaithful. He's still going to get divorce-raped. I predict that the wife will get the house, full custody of the kids, lifetime alimony, and child support.

JUST DO NOT GET MARRIED.

What I hate the most about these stories is that there is no legal recourse for these husbands. Even is a wife physically abuses her husband, cheats on her husband millions of times and gives birth to illegitimate children, family courts will not give a shit. I've heard plenty of stories of husbands having to pay child-support for children that aren't even theirs!

There is literally no reason why any man should get married.

While shopping for a new car my brother's ex decided she wanted a sports car that he was too tall to fit into. He said no. She cried, threw a hissy fit, "you don't love me..." blah, blah, blah. She would not let it go. For a couple of weeks she was on him to get the car. He never budged. If he could have fit in the car he would have done it. Anyway, she tells him one night that he must not love her and asks for a divorce. Goes and spends the night with her grandmother. I had to talk him out of buying the car to win her back. Sure enough, she had already rented an apartment and had a boy friend. He spent so much time kicking himself about not getting the car thinking that was the reason she left. It took me awhile to get him to realize that she was going to leave anyway, she just wanted to drive away in a car he paid for.

Crying over a car....the most responsible, spoiled, teenager in the house. And she's a gold digger. So happy to be TRP. I won't ever be in these situations.

If the roles had been reversed, the man refusing to raise another man's child would have been through divorce, been divorce raped and would have lost his home, half of his money and money to pay for the rest of his life.

Here, the wife gets away with everything while the husband is doing his best to solve the situation.

Early in my marriage I found that I got the best behavior from my wife immediately after a fight in which I raised my voice and told her with authority that her behavior was not appropriate. She would start an argument usually by refusing to do something which we had previously agreed was her responsibility, or sometimes by speaking to me inappropriately. At first, I would try to address the subject reasonably, explaining the reasons why whatever she did was wrong. Eventually, I figured out that she knew damn well whatever she did to start the fight was wrong. She was just waiting for me to call her on it. A sort of test. We get along much better now. I think part of the problem is that I was raised without a dad, and my mom was a very strong figure who always told me that marriage was an equal partnership, etc. I’ve found this to be true in a way, but not the way I thought. Marriage is definitely a partnership, but both partners must acknowledge that gender roles are absolutely necessary to make it work. You can’t have a marriage of two neuters, the dynamic just doesn’t lend itself to a long-term happy couple. There has to be a man, and a woman.

Notice how many of these posts are guys doing what their woman wants. Stay at home dad? Sure thing sweetness. Quit my job and move? You got it babe. Buy a house and get knocked up cuz "it feels right"? fuck yea bro. Everyone of these guys gave up doing things for themselves, their girls lost the tingles and found it elsewhere. Also, notice the trend-when a woman decides to leave, it is ALWAYS messy. You have to ensure your own safe exit.

What's sad is that common denominator in most of these stories is that the husband is simply a beta bucks. The way they respond to cheating is a tell tale sign: marriage counseling, forgiving her, trusting it won't happen again, denial, etc.

Of course a few of the women in these stories are likely straight up crazy regardless. However, it's the responsibility of the man to screen for the crazies in the first place, which won't be effective if he has women on a pedestal.

Really stresses my one advice I have to married guys - when you know it's fucked up, don't hamster, just do it quick and get the divorce over with while you're young.

One of them sent her boyfriend to chat with me instead, and he said that she was really sorry and was going to message me an apology. Never happened. Years of friendship gone.
