TL;DR: A scene from the hit t.v show Breaking Bad reveals what I believe is a good RP principle to internalize: Commit to your own biological kids; never the mother.

Body: I've always admired this scene from Breaking Bad between Gustavo Fring and Walter White, even before ever knowing TRP. After TRP, the scene makes even more sense to me.

Walter: "I have made a series of very bad decisions and I cannot afford to make another one."

Gustavo: "...and why did you make these decisions?"

Walter: "For the good of my family."

Gustavo: "...then they weren't bad decisions.....what does a man do, Walter? A man provides for his family."

Walter: "This cost me my family!"

Gustavo: "As long as you have children they'll always be your priority, your responsibility. And a man....a man provides.

Gustavo: "...and he does it even when he's not appreciated, or respected....or loved. He simply bears up and he does it....because he's a Man."

Now on the surface, this may seem like rather BP advice, but what Gus is actually saying is that unconditional love should only be reserved for your spawn -- that is your real family. It's no secret that deep inside, this is the modus operandi of women. It only makes sense for Men to adopt this mindset as well, because we all know that Men love differently than Women, in that we're the real romantics.

As some may be tempted to argue that Gustavo is referring to bending over backwards and taking shit from your kids; but in truth he's just simply saying if you're gonna truly love someone, reserve that for your children. A Man can discipline his children with an iron fist out of complete love. Those men, in my honest opinion, make the best fathers.

Conclusion: Reserve your unconditional love for your own children. Never squander that on a woman.
