The Rational Male was instrumental in turning my life around. Understanding why things were happening the way they were (ie, why the fuck does she treat me so badly, why are things turning out this way. It's like she's not even human) took so much of the frustration out of them. I clue'd in, divorced out, and moved on. In the end, she's the one who had the melt down I was headed for. People who haven't read the book and the blog are really doing themselves a disservice.

He explains things in easy to understand English, and he's incredibly non-douchey. The Rational Male year 1 is the best introduction to TRP for newbies.

I'm not surprised people aren't reading his posts...

With all the stupid shit that gets posted on TRP of late, I'd be surprised if more than half the users here have even read the sidebar... Not to mention any of the books or blogs that they should be reading.

When I first got here my first true read was Year One and Year Two.

I've slacked a bit and not done Year Three. (have picked up bits and pieces)

Have bookmarked it and will read all of it.

His work is excellent.

I wish I could transport The Rational Male book back in time to my old self. My last 10 years would have been quite a bit better, to put it lightly.

I got the book as a gift after a breakup and without it I might have repeated my last 10 years over again.

If you haven't read it, do yourself an enormous favour by reading it. You don't have to agree with it, but you need to know it. Because when you see those things happening to you, you will understand them.

Totally agree. I spent weeks on the Tomassi site confused, wondering, and slowly finding answers. That and CH require serious study.

Instead of asking us what the same few acronyms mean over and over I encourage newer readers to simply lurk and absorb Tomassi, Heartiste and the sidebar generally.

Rollo is the man. I have a copy of Rational Male and I often re-read chapters to reinforce theory and integrate new information found here and through real life experience into existing theory.

I've been reading the book on my phone. Very Very good.

I read no more Mr. Nice guy (another recommended reading) and though it was good also, I didn't identify well with the "nice guy" stereotype until the end of the book talking about sex and physical intimacy. I haven't been most of that book since freshman year of college.

Rollo's "AFC" (average frustrated chump) character, however, is definitely me. I'm only 2 chapters in but really learning alot about myself and identifying things I need to improve upon.

As much as I love Rollo with his sweet milk chocolate shell and delicious caramel filling he needs to understand that the primary TRP demo is men between 17 and 23. While I love his writing I feel like it may not be optimally suited for this demographic.

They're rational and not set up to whip people into an emotional frenzy. Given how many people are followers that just want to be told an easy 1-2-3 rote method for getting da womenz instead of having to adapt to a certain level of critical thinking, the lack of attention does not surprise me.

I like a lot of his material but found the SMV chart to be somewhat misleading. I didn't find it to be wrong but misleading. As a 26 yr old grad student that is well above average looking, I found that my SMV has gone down with younger girls over the years. I can get interests from girls my age who are for the most part close to hitting the wall but I cannot get the hot co-eds in the 18-22 age range at my university. Now there is the issue of my school being a huge university dominated by Greek Life so a lot of the better looking girls are in sororities (which makes it damn near impossible to get them).

What I have found is that you get older, you have a higher SMV relative to what a woman would have but you always lose out to younger guys that have nearly the same kind of SMV. I mean a lot of these guys I see the best looking girls with aren't even as good looking as I am, they are short and some even chubby, but they seem to do better because they are near that age range.

This whole 30 yr old guys getting hot college aged girls thing is such a massive lie. Before say I am being pessimistic, I even posted a thread on TRP about how I can make the best of my situation and a lot of the users said that 18-22 yr old college girls that are hot are practically out of your reach if you aren't an undergrad in their social circle.

I've been slowly making my way through his entire catalog.

And it seems that whenever I'm pondering over something related to the sexes I find my answer, or at least something to think about, in one of his essays.

I also enjoy commenting over at his blog as well. Some of the feedback is quite useful.
