Carlin on Stupid people

Carlin on Angels

"30 years of unadulterated street drugs will get you some fuckin Angels"

Ghosts, haunted houses, astrology, soulmates, reincarnation, magic, witches... and on and on ad nauseum.

Anecdotally, I observe this kind of "belief without evidence or reason" is more prevalent among women than men by significant margins. Gallup poll results confirm this observation, although I suspect the numbers are bigger than their polls would indicate because of selection bias and the influence the poll itself has on people's responses.

I'm posting this mainly pointed at my brothers here still struggling with the anger phase of RP ideology. Look guys, you might be pissed if a 6 year old lost the stylus for your tablet (which actually happened to me yesterday sigh), but you wouldn't be pissed at the kid... it's above their pay grade so to speak. Instead you would understand their limitations and attempt to create a teachable moment.

But you're still pissed at women for the mistreatment you or others have received. Gentlemen, according to Gallup there's about a 50/50 chance when interacting with women that you are speaking to someone who believes in angels and devils, magic and astrology. Have fun trying to logic your way through that shit... it's a bag full of cats.

Understand that someone (male or female) who holds these kind of beliefs simply isn't capable of a rational mindset.

The next time you are confronted with some nonsense from a woman as her hamster spins, just try and remember that while it seems over the top, they likely hold ideas much crazier than simple relationship nonsense.

The researcher's comments will make sense to RP people to wit:

[Forty-two percent of U.S. women believe that houses can be haunted versus 31% of U.S. men; it's 34% vs. 22% in Canada, and 44% vs. 29% in Britain. Differences in belief between men and women in Canada and Great Britain are quite pronounced when it comes to astrology and the ability to communicate with the dead; women in both countries are about twice as likely as men to hold those beliefs. American women are more likely than men to believe in astrology and communication with the dead, but by a much smaller margin than in the other two countries.

Kathleen, a New Jersey counselor who treats both men and women for a variety of issues, isn't surprised by the finding that women are, in some cases, bigger believers in the paranormal. She suspects it's a function of how men's and women's brains work. "Women are just more receptive, more intuitive, and more plugged in, whereas men tend to be logical and sequential," she says. "In my work, I find that women are much more inclined to speculate about hypothetical situations."

Kerk-Tabor agrees that women are more likely than men to believe in the paranormal, but for a different reason. "Men tend to judge themselves competitively," she says. "They ask, 'Am I better than you?' whereas women encompass the whole and ask, 'Where do I fit in?' This inclusiveness may help women to be more receptive to the 'magical stuff' -- things that exist in a different paradigm, in another realm."](http://www.gallup.com/poll/19558/paranormal-beliefs-come-supernaturally-some.aspx)

Oh yes, and lift of course.
