What do tattoos mean to you?

January 30, 2013

I was noticing the other day that a piercings and tattoos on women weren't terribly attractive to me. I can handle ear piercings but they don't make an ugly woman prettier. At best they have no effect, and sometimes, depending on the earrings, they have a negative effect for me. Face piercings? Forget about it. Ugly as shit.

Tattoos are the same way. There are attractive girls with tattoos, but they are not themselves attractive because of the tattoos. I know plenty of girls with tattoos that I think would be prettier without them.

I was wondering if anybody had some insight on this one. The best I've thought of is this:

Tattoos on men are attractive to women because they show that men can make permanent decisions with ease. This shows risk, as we know women are attracted to risk seeking behavior from men. (which comes down to the main tenants of masculinity).

Women being attracted to men with tattoos must then assume the attraction would be symmetrical.

However, risky behavior in women is something men avoid. Showing that women can carelessly make long term decisions that may not best suit them shows that this person is not a good choice for childbearing.

Any other ideas?

I'm sure plenty of guys here are going to say they like tattoos on women, and maybe it's just where I live, but I find the tattoo'd women are also sluttier and more rough around the edges.

Before anybody links to suicide girls, I want to make my point again. A pretty girl with tattoos may still be pretty. But it's in spite of, not due to, the tattoos.

I think tattoos are unfeminine - and most women look worse with their tattoos than better.

[–]TRP Vanguardtheubercuber13 points14 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

That's how I feel.

Women being attracted to men with tattoos must then assume the attraction would be symmetrical.

OP has a very plausible hypothesis

ALL women look worse.

[–]zionController4 points5 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

AWALT for sure.

Pretty much every girl with tattoos that I've banged were worse for the wear. One bartender who was covered in Lil Wayne lyrics tattoos told me she had genital herpes before we were gonna bang... thank God. I settled for a hj and never called her again. Other girl had tattoo's all over her body and wanted to tattoo my name on her back, crazy as shit, sooo slutty. I went to a reddit meetup/birthday bash for some redditor in my city. Everyone laughed about the losers on the seduction subreddit as if that stuff doesn't work, and then I took home and banged the birthday girl. True story. Tattoo's all over the place.

I violate the don't stick your dick in crazy heuristic a lot, and most of the crazies have tattoos.

All tattoos translate to "slut." It just shows me she needs even more attention than the average woman, which we both know is already out of control, and she has no problem making bad decisions so I'll help her make another one. It is just the kind of gentleman I am...

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee."

Agree. When I heard "slag tags" I realised that's what I thought. There are rare exceptions no doubt but, I've yet to meet one.

On humans of either sex, they generally signify: "I face no real danger in my life, have a great deal of disposable income, and lack the true transgressiveness to display the true individuality of my inner self by chopping off my legs."

That said, I have four, one of them a full back piece.

Tattoos, Dyed Hair, Cutters, and Cosplay are all trademark signs that girl will FUCK YOUR BRAINS OUT if you are unattainable to her. Now you may not equate that to ease of success so you probably don't like them for whatever reason. Attraction has proximity that especially weighs on womens choices in a fuck (less for a mate). It seems like you are even going a layer deeper and looking for some agreement there. Why?

You gotta understand that tattoos are is another form of credibility or congruency for your character. Think of it like dick advertising. Your saying with those that you fit in all the stories girls make up in their head about guys with tattoos.

Now SPECIFIC tattoos are different (those establish YOU as a specific version of their story, its another layer of credibility your not just a tattooed guy your the guy with the dragon tattoo etc).

What your doing in this post is trying to demonstrate a little about your belief and I can get it. You want it to be like "ohh shit he just DID that?" and that certainly has an effect on a girl but its still subject to the reasoning of the action. If its not congruent with the person you are, its not gonna do what you want it to do. So tattoos are really like any other advertising people are doing for their lifestyle.

Men can be attracted to tattoos for side girls and harem plans. Everything a girl does to make her more like a fantasy is just like pussy advertising for them. Part of the reason why so many play the victim card is because its the most general form of fantasy a man can buy into.

Good post. Maybe we can compile a list of things that people do to advertise themselves and pick out the best 80/20 to amplify our presentations and slay it even better ;P

Men: Watches Tattoos Nice fitting clothes(we can advertise a little bit about who we are with clothes but not NEARLY as much as girls can right now) Looking good naked Being Funny Other actors in your story that establish congruency

Women: Haircuts/Dyes Perms Make-up Plastic Surgery(youd be surprised how many hot girls have had something done or maybe not ;D) Dressing to advertise their intent Sultry Behavior (Teasing in a good way) Feminine Behavior (being shy, giving you her time which is mimicking our version of love) The ability to pull women FOR YOU lol

All that stuff is like tattoos, its all just advertising in one way or another when demonstrated.

I'd love to collect a list of signals in modern western society and what they indicate.

Would you be interested in starting a thread with your start?

I wouldn't marry a "suicide girl", and her tattoo's don't make her sexy, it just changes the brand of sexy.

I just can't stop thinking of all the women that age that will one day be 70 and have a tramp stamp.

[–]FountainsOfFluids1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Great image of a nursing home with a bunch of 90 year old ladies in belly shirts and tramp stamps with half sleeves.

This is an interesting point: tattoos can be a signifier of personal body image. If one considers one's body a Maybach one would be significantly less likely to tattoo it, and if one did it would be inconspicuous. However some people see their bodies as more of a Geo Metro.

I feel like tattoos and piercings are the bleach-blonde hair and silicon tits of my generation. Never really understood why i would spend money on such things, but i don't really care if other people have them too much. Though honestly i do prefer a natural human body without modifications.

It all depends on what that tattoo is of, and where it's located.

If it's something generic in an almost-but-not-quite hidden spot - I know the girl is a follower of trends. She cares what everyone thinks about her and it's more important to be cool than actually expressing anything about themselves. Examples of this: nautical stars, sparrows/doves, flowers, any kind of text/quote, hearts, most kinds of generic flash -- locations: shoulders, lower back, ankles/lower calf, just above her pussy, outer thigh.

The other side of the coin are genuinely unique and thoughtful tattoos. I was with a girl once who had this amazing "sleeve" that was all cake, candy, sweets and junk food. It looked really really amazing and I thought it actually increased how feminine she looked. I also know a few strippers who have really great, unique tattoos ... prominently displayed.

Personally, that's the differentiator for me: unique/interesting tattoos vs generic look-at-me-I'm-hip flash tattoos.

I think tattoos on women are almost universally a sign that they are poor decision makers and impulsive and potentially bad mates.

What makes it worse though is that normal everyday women who get tattoos always do it in the worst, most unattractive way. Like, they'll get 3 or 4 dinky little tattoos of differing quality that don't match or go together in any way and slap them all over their body randomly. It looks trashy and like utter shit.

It'd be different if it were like Suicide Girl type stuff where you get one big well-done tattoo or piece spread across their body in an aesthetically pleasing way. You still wouldn't want to marry a woman like that, but that can be sexy.

But normal women with tattoos? Trashy as fuck.

Nothing says "I'm a dirty cock-whore" like a Tramp Stamp.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

I distrust people who display their inner workings for all to see. Tattoos are supposed to signify personal things about them and I have a hard time trusting people who have so sense of discretion.

[–]bluehat92 points3 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

That's your concept of what a tattoo is for. Don't assume that everyone views the world, or tattoos, the same as you.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

yes. my paradigms are formed by my perception of the world. if a tattoo isnt significant of something then its simply an adornment that was thought to be fashionable at some point which tells me that you are a slave to fashion and painfully superficial since you would permanently commit to a fashion trend (aka tramp stamps).

[–]bluehat9-2 points-1 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I can understand that, but would you say that something personal cannot also be meant for public consumption? For instance, do you feel the same way about people with bumper stickers on their car?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Bumper stickers are transient. A bumper sticker could have been put there by someone else. I will never associate your tattoo with someone else.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure, people can observe signals and get different meanings.. but in general, the intention of the signaler should be considered. They do want to display something about themselves, so it's not a far jump for sensei to think that. His choice not to trust them is his choice.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point about why they're appropriate on me. I've always contemplated getting one, but each time my reasoning boils down to thinking it would be a long term mistake (outside of the employer not liking it type thing) and that a woman would judge me based upon that decision. That was before I read the manipulated man....now that decision has to do with employers only.

[–]iggybdawg1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I think you make a good meta-point - attraction is not symmetrical. A lot of my bluepill days were spent in confusion because I was trying to trigger attraction and escalate physicality in the ways I wanted it given to myself.

[–]FountainsOfFluids1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree. I think tattoos on women are a sign that they are "brave" and "tough", which are masculine traits I'm not attracted to. There are a couple tatt'd up girls that I like, but like you said it's despite their tats, not because of them.

They're pretty fashionable right now, and I have no doubt that it's a sign of feminism run rampant.

[–]WeaknessIntoVirtue1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Identifiers of women I have to stay away from.

[–]TheKount0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Personally I love good tattoos on girls. But a bad tattoo is a huge turnoff so it is a case by case basis for me. Have two myself and planning my full sleeve right now. I have deeply personal ones and they never fail to bring up topics that otherwise wouldn't be brought up.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
