TL;DR Woman goes to bar. Gets drunk and claims male employee followed her to bathroom and raped her. Story gets attention because she claims police asked her if she was a 'party girl'.

From the post:

"Every woman I know in my life has been a victim of violence, sexual or otherwise, at the hands of men," Pepper Ellett told us. "These crimes are so visible, and with sexual violence you're made to feel this stigma and shame and it keeps people from healing. It just perpetuates the problem. I feel compelled to say, this isn't right."

So she has victim complex from the beginning because every woman she's known has been raped.

Ellett believes she was drugged because she remembers very little of her time at Happy Ending, despite being careful not to drink too much because she had to be at her job at a Chelsea art gallery the next morning.

Translation: She had too many drinks but doesn't want to admit it.

Alarmed that something had happened to Ellett in the bathroom, Ellett's friend alerted the bar's management and security, and tried to confront the employee, who fled.

Translation: Too embarrassed to admit she's the type to have sex in a bar bathroom she cries rape.

The next morning, Ellett said she went to work, but her colleagues urged her to go to the Lenox Hill Healthplex on 7th Avenue, where a rape kit was administered.

Ellett tells us that while she was using the restroom a man entered. "I just saw this dick in my face and I heard a man tell me to suck his dick," Ellett recalls. "And then I said no and I remember feeling trapped and I remember feeling like I was being held against my will, and then I don't remember anything after that."

What actually happened

TL;DR The bar released a video of what happened that night. Shows Ellet dancing with the employee and being overly friendly. They go to the bathroom together and after 30 minutes, she comes out and chats with friends as if nothing is wrong. Ellet was outraged after the video was released because she claims it was 'heavily edited' and the bar was 'victim blaming her'.

From the article:

The video, uploaded to Vimeo with the title "Cameras Don't Lie," shows Pepper Ellett and two friends inside and outside the bar shortly after midnight on July 29th. It also shows her briefly dancing with a man whom the bar identifies only as "the accused." In text accompanying the video, Happy Ending argues that "the surveillance cameras show something completely different" than what Ellett has alleged.

The article is heavily biased and adds:

The video, however, does not show what occurred inside the bathroom between Ellett and the man she says raped her. Without audio, there is no way of knowing what was said between them before or after the alleged rape. And it should go without saying that dancing with someone is not a license for sexual assault, nor is occupying a bathroom with someone.

Sure she was dancing with him and goes in with him for 30 minutes and comes out smiling but he's still a filthy rapist. Except:

The video shows Ellet exits the bathroom and continues to talk, embrace and be intimate with the accused.

The video shows that Ellet stays in contact with her two friends without any signs of distress or intoxication.

This guy is really lucky this bar had cameras. If not, it would've been one deranged woman's words against his.
