I was watching a show a few weeks ago on a hotel room TV. This is the only place I ever watch TV as I cut the chord on cable about 8 years ago – too much rubbish. (Plus they make ME pay to watch advertisements, so, no thanks.

A series of commercials came on, and every one of them featured an African American woman in the lead – or gaining the main benefit from the product.

Having a business background, I immediately figured that this must be the show’s demographic. Anyway, I made a note to myself to look into that later, and went about my day.

It also hit me that we are all surrounded by messages that are not aimed at us – unless we want them to be. And this is the basis for all sorts of problems.

The thought that immediately sunk in for me is this: In the same way that this commercial is not for me, supporting a show that is not made for people like me; Likewise, this country, and the dominant culture is not made for people like me.

The United States of America that I grew up in, no longer exists.

Now you can accuse be of being an alarmist, fatalistic, pessimistic, or prone to drama – and it probably does look that way to someone mired in this culture. But in my culture, (somewhat of a modified old school American Male Worldview), realists views tend to be more accurate than just about any others. We accept harsh messages and DEAL with them. Messages need not be sugar coated. They just need to be honest and direct.

America can no longer be defined by the Constitution or by our laws. It was never about a culture, or a specific group or groupings of people either. The infrastructure and real estate holdings have also changed over time. And not too long ago, most people agreed with the American Dream, and they sought it out from all around the world. Many traveled here through very dangerous circumstances and risked their lives to get here and stake a claim; that is all gone now.

This culture, this country, its laws, and even the Constitution are not the same one I grew up with (from any sort of functional perspective). Even ideas like “all men are created equal” and we should “judge a man by the content of his character….” are gone.

Poof. No more. All finished.

So when I watch TV shows, when I read the “news”, when I go to a movie, when I see billboard ads, and hell, even when I speak to people on the street, I am becoming increasingly aware that I am a stranger to all of it. And it is strange to me. This is THEIR culture, not mine.

And that's ok.

Likewise, when I read articles about women who are having trouble finding a good man, or a feminist talking about how men are failing, or how we need open borders, or more welfare/UBI/gibs, more programs, more government and more “assistance” etc., I become increasingly aware that the culture has evolved to a new thing that is not me, by me, or for me – or any other good man for that matter.

Must like an Atheist must experience life in a majority Muslim country, some of us are proverbial Strangers in Our Own Land.

And that is okay.

The point of this piece is just to give you some food for thought. How to deal with all this will be the subject of another piece if there is enough interest. (Spending one’s time wisely is one of the tenets of, well, timeless wisdom).

In the meantime,

Merry Christmas brothers.

...and may 2021 be as exciting as we all hope it will be!
