Most women wouldn't mind losing their male friends, if said male friends treated these women like they treat their male friends.

Because most women make shitty friends (which is bound to happen when you think relations only in terms of what you can gain) and men don't treat put shitty friends on a pedestal and and cater to their every whim.

Why is it women can't understand, men cannot be friends with women they find attractive.

If a man doesn't find a woman attractive he won't waste energy on you as honestly 99% of women are terrible friends to men.

That leaves two other possibilities, a guy who treats you like one of his male friends because he finds you physically attractive and would smash. Typically he knows it would never be more than that due to political views, life goals or whatever. He invests minimal effort (in a woman's perspective) and if you guys end up smashing cool.

The second group is orbiters, guys who go way above & beyond their treatment of their male friends because they secretly want a full relationship with the woman. She has zero interest in that but she loves the free attention so keeps him around as a friend...this is like 95+% of friendships between men & women.

They want the boyfriend experience without having sex with someone they find unattractive. Another issue is that they expect the man to ignore their feelings of attraction, even if she gets a true lover.

When two people are friends, and one catches feelings for another, then you can get together, split apart or "hope they will change their mind". That last one will cause the most damage in the long term. You can't go back to how things were, that's just the nature of life.

As many have said - the reason they miss this is because the guys who have romantic interest but are friendzoned (specifically these, not those with no romantic interest) are the best friends girls can have.

I saw this thread. It wasn't in /all. Anyways, those young chicks are claiming about how men & women can be friends. Also a few mentions of how the friends will never get any but they will definately date {i.e. hookup with some rando} They literally don't seem to get that their extremely close male best friends have feeling for them sooner or later. It is just the nature of the beast.

The biggest clue should be, the guy tends to ghost after meeting a ltr girlfriend.

A woman's female friends have a half-life of about a year. Believe me I have sisters. They have no concept of reciprocality and looking for constant excuses to get a free pass. Since other women see this a mile away friendships never last that long. What makes a chump think he is the exception?

This is no different than if two guys were good friends and one happened to be gay for the other, you shouldn’t just lose the friendship over it
